The difference now is that there are tens of thousands of 'xfinitywifi' hot spots all with the same login info. If your mobile device is used on one of them, a legit one, it will automaticly try to log into ANY wifi network of the same name. The spoof service then captures the login info sent and it is your xfinity account log in......

These two services need to have separate logins and use secure authentication. This open network of tens of thousands of hot spots that comcast is creating is a great idea, but needs work to make it usable.

the same is reported happening to u-verse customers using auto log-on, too. hasn't using public wi-fi always been a little sketchy?

xfinitywifi is not a free wifi. Its a paid service that requires login. It just so happens that the login is the same as your xfinity account.....

Wireless networks are not secure is what I've been hearing for a number of years.
