Deadliest Catch - OAD 7/09/2013

I haven't watched this yet (hope to tonight), but I'm not sure I want to following the preview at the end of last week's episode!

Creating the thread and will catch up after viewing.

Lots of ice and Elliott with the emotional maturity of a 2-year-old. And, that's being unkind to 2-year-olds to compare them to Elliott.

And the way they edit the show isn't helping his cause. All the callbacks to the prior episodes, they were really setting this thing up.

That, the blown engine, and the whole "the leaning of the ship isn't that bad don't worry about it" attitude in the last episode, geez ...

The whole Keith waiting at the dock for Saga and subsequent Valentines thing was just plain weird.

Mr. Wizard (Keith): "Word of wisdom?"
Elliot (Giant Tool) : "I'm so tired of listening to advice < I paraphrase>!"

Elliot? How can you be tired of doing something you plainly never do?

Such a good moment when Bill kissed the greenhorn on the cheek! I was happy that kid made the right decision.

About the Wizard: they're always hard on greenhorns, butI get the feeling they were harder on their last greenhorn just so that one guy's brother could join the crew.

Smart decisions by Time Bandit to pack it up early and Junior to rail dump.

btw...I did find out some info regarding Jake and the Kiska from the boat's websites and some other sites:

Jake was actually hired by the company that owns the Kiska and many other boats and they put him on the Kiska to learn. That isn't the boat or the captian that he will be replacing. Jake said that the captian had no issues with him but that the crew dogged him (especially 2 guys who got passed over for captian) until the last day.

That reminds me ... having the captain control the hydros on the Kiska Sea from the wheelhouse? Crazy!

I kind of like that... Gives the captain something to do besides sit on his ass.

Exactly. Even vets who've worked on other boats a long time are greenhorns on a new boat.

Every boat is different, and each one has their own customs and behaviors and even the vets need to re-learn the ropes on a new boat.

Jake's had it hard because he moved up fast. It's technically his second boat.

Well, I was a little put out. There was a lot more in the preview than was in the episode, so I can only guess they're saving the gruesome stuff for later.

I was relieved that some of the things I saw didn't take place, but that only leaves it to happen later.

Does Elliot really not know what an idiot he is? I can't believe that, after being told that his 'girlfriend on the side' is sleeping with another guy in his own home and has no feelings for him, he's STILL hoping to propose to her??? WTF? What does he need to move on? Sign writing in the sky?

I doubt Freddie was considered a Greenhorn when he went form the Corelia Marie to the Wizard.

I thought it was pretty interesting Elliot told Keith that he hates every minute of being out on the sea. hmmm should have thought about that before you bought your boat.

I think that Elliot also mentions once or twice that he has boat payment.

Elliot's a mess with no impulse control. At the rate he's going, he'll lose both girls and the Boat. From the looks of it, he didn't make a very smart buy anyway. First fishing trip and he loses an engine? Something tells me that engine wasn't in the best shape to begin with...

Is it me, or has Elliot stopped promoting his line of clothing this season?

686 - and it's just you - he's wearing it all the time.

Perhaps you're blinded by his d*ckishness?
