There were actually a lot of guest stars in the finale, though all were basically cameos (Pelosi, Roker, O'Brien, Hayek, etc).

I enjoyed the finale. It seemed like the perfect way to end the series. I still think 30 Rock was one of the funniest shows on TV, but I assumed I was the only one watching as there hasn't been a talkback thread for it for several seasons.

Oh right-- about Conan -- why did they make it look intentionally fake (almost rotoscoped) when Conan was in the elevator?

Maybe they filmed his spot in California and they just spliced it in with Tina in NY, but if that's the case, they could have done it much better to make it not look so obvious (you could see this little green haze around his body).

Sounded to me like mumbling. "Ruroh Juroh" or something like that. She mumbled through the first part also. Sounded just like nonsense words to me. I didn't put the captions on for that part. Probably should have.

The whole thing was mumbling, except for "Rural Juror," which was deliberately enunciated.

I am pretty sure I read this in the Rolling Stone cover story also.

Might have been easier (and funnier) for me to understand if I had remembered the reference/episode. Oh well.

One thing I will definitely miss is the live episode they did. I wish they had concluded with one. Does anyone recall how many of these they did? My recollection is that they didn't start until at least a few years in.

I still get a grin thinking about Tracey Morgan saying "Hell no!" (or something like that) to Jon Hamm in their Alfie and Abner sketch.

Add ....

From Vulture.com, here are the words:

The whir and the purr of a twirler girl
She would the world were demurer
The insurer's allure
For valor were pure Kari Wuhrer
One fervid whirl over her turgid error

I'll always be glad I met you

I'll always be glad I met you
Rural juror (x2)
These were the best days of my flerm.

Rural Juror was a movie that Jeanna starred in a few seasons back.

I'm usually not too good at remembering references that far back, but for some reason, Rural Juror was one of my favorite gags, and I thought the callback was great.

I hated the artificial looking Conan scene so much, I thought the show might be ruined. But the rest was good enough to bring it back. (Maybe the obvious green screen-ing was intentional for a joke? If it was, it zoomed me.)

All in all, a good ending.

They did make a joke in the previous episode about how fake green-screening always looks. Maybe that was a setup for the Conan bit.

I recalled that, but it felt more like a line to cover how bad it was, not like they had a good joke and executed it. Fell sort of flat, I thought.

There were two live shows - one in Season 4, and one in Season 6.

One thing I would have liked to see: a callback to The Queen of Jordan. ("Sponsored by (choose: Quizno's, Togo's, Subway) - don't be such a Lutz!")

Maybe Conan was in L.A. and couldn't get to NY to film.

What exactly was the deal with Blimpie's? Was that reverse product placement? I didn't watch the credits to see if they paid for the mention. But if they did, wow, it wasn't very flattering. It would almost be funnier if Subway actually paid for it.

There was an episode where Lutz got to pick lunch. I could have sworn he chose Subway and not Blimpie's.

Jenna never met Mickey Rourke!! Great stuff!

I thought maybe (1) NBC wouldn't let him in the building (99% joking), or (2) he wouldn't WANT to go back in the building.

BTW, I watched the "Occupy Conan" episode of Conan, and Tina Fey did a bit on it as Conan.. (which IIRC they showed in a few pieces spread around the episode).

Me neither. Or maybe I did but didn't think much of it. I guess thinking about it now I remember some references to his age/other stuff, but I never put enough into it to realize they were saying he was immortal. I also think my DVR got cut off because until reading this thread just now, I had absolutely no idea that there was a scene with Kenneth talking to Liz's granddaughter. Now I'm wondering if I even finished the episode or if it got cut off, lol.

I though the final hour was pretty funny. Lots of good nods to the series, and some funny gags as well...not sure why but I laughed my ass off when Liz called out the ad for Grizz's sitcom, hahaha. What awesome about it is that I didn't even notice that it was a fake ad--I'm so accustomed to those things that I didn't even see it. The only reason I caught was because Liz looked down and freaked out "Wait, does anybody see that??" and I didn't know what the gag was, so I rewound it. Random s*** like that is why I loved this show. Stuff like Jenna looking into the camera and Liz looking behind her trying to see who she's talking to, the green screen bit, etc.

I also laughed at her posts on the parenting message board... hysterical. "I'll be the one in the purple sweater choking a skank..." (or whatever). Jack's journey of self discovery lasting 15 seconds, Pete's exit, Lutz' revenge, Jenna going to LA and being surrounded by Cerie's and leaving immediately, the whole Rural Juror throwback.

I'm gonna miss this one. I think every single comedy I watch is now gone or will be. Modern Family is the only one still going and that's probably my least favorite out of all of these, lol.

30 Rock
The Office
Happy Endings
Don't Trust the B
Ben and Kate
Modern Family

Plus the flying cars outside the window behind him were a clue that we were way into the future.

That reminds me of something funny in this episode. Liz said something like she was going to do a show on cable where you they let you have the time for a joke to land - and then there was a very fast cut to the next scene with Jenna.

Tina Fey is a genius.
