Exclamation DD51 Audio dropouts on Denon/Audyssey

I have traced my problem with audio dropouts to an incompatibility(?) with my Denon AVR-591's Audyssey mode; if I disable Audyssey the dropouts stop. However, on the AVSforum 591 owner's thread they say this is a Tivo problem, that no one else is reporting this issue with Audyssey.

I have previously posted on this but without any solution,
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=487516

The issue only happens on some channels so I'm guessing that some DD5.1 signals are malformed and the Tivo Premiere doesn't handle them properly? I had previously diagnosed the issue as specific to my encrypted cable channels so maybe the issue lies there?

This is apparently a Denon AVR-591 problem -- I had the same problem with that model, and when I switched to a Sony receiver it disappeared, so while there may be some TiVo issue, at least some receivers can shrug it off.

Some recievers handle glitches in the DD stream better than others. Since the audio track is continuously changing as the tivo moves between sources, menus etc, it is going to hickup the stream.

I had the same diffeculty with my previous Onkyo Integra reciever. Finally gave up and replaced it with a current gen Yamaha and the problem disappeared.

My Denon 3808 with Audyssey is fine with my TiVos. And every channel on FiOS has Dolby Digital audio. It's rare I have an audio glitch, but when I do it is repeatable when I play that part back again.

Like aaronwt, my 3808 has been flawless for the past 4+ years...1/2 with a Tivo HD and 1/2 with a Premier. One of my Harmony One activities sets up the system with TV sound (no 3808)...and it never gets used.

DD5.1 is great but dtsMaster and Dolby TrueHD will blow your socks off.

Neither of those audio formats are supported by Tivo.

Yeah, you're right...I was thinking of my blu-ray player and the 3808...which will blow your socks off.

Otherwise, no issues with DD5.1 for me...
