Universal remote for Premiere and TiVO HD

I know there are several remote threads, but most of them go back a couple of years. I have a TiVO HD, will be getting a Premiere. I'm currently using a Universal URC 10820 for the HD and it does everything I want it to, and wonder if it's possible to add a TiVO premiere to it, so that I could control BOTH TiVOs with it (not together, obviously). Can the codes distinguish between the two TiVOs? Or is there another universal remote that would do that? I know that Harmonys may do that, but I really don't want to spend that kind of money for a fancy-schmantzy remote, though I"m sure it is wonderful.

If your 10820 is the original model, yes, if its the 10820N, no. The original model of the 10820 have preset codes for tivo addresses 1-4.

Not sure How much you consider too much for a remote but I just paid $114 for a new Harmony One and it is great.

I don't know anything about the specific remote you asked about, but I believe any remote that can "learn" individual buttons from a devices original remote can be used to control 2 or more TiVos (my new Harmony One easily controls all four of mine). Instead of using only the programed TiVo codes you have it learn the "TiVo" button command from your TiVo's remote (after your TiVo remotes and your TiVos have been set to a addresses other than "0").

Good Luck,

Apparently the 8820 and 8820N are the same way.

Of course I found out after getting an 8820N.

Has anybody ever tried those preset codes on the N models to see if they're still there but just not mentioned in the owner's manual?

I have, none of the following codes are in the N series remotes:

Address #1- SAT 1443 or PVR/VCR 0740
#2- SAT 1444 or PVR/VCR 0745
#3- SAT 1538 or PVR/VCR 1239
#4- SAT 1539 or PVR/VCR 1240

Sorry.

You could search out the two following models of OFA remote, urc-6820 & urc-6690, and be certain the codes are there, because they didn't make N version of those models.
