Exclamation 19hr & 24hr recordings to be transferred via Tivo Desktop

I have seven or so 19hr recordings on my Tivo Premeire & a couple 24hr recordings on my Tivo XL HD to be transferred via Tivo Desktop.

Will the transfers go through okay?

Anything you would suggest I should be aware of before starting?

I transferred 60 GB worth of programming yesterday without a problem.
Expect it to take a LONG time.

Make sure you have enough hard drive space and tune to channels that are "blank" - it will speed things up just a bit with a HD unit.

This is with a Tivo HD. I think it took about 12 hours to transfer 8 hrs 45 mins of HD programming.

The Premiere will transfer faster than that. Maybe close to real time.

One thing I thought of, if you plan on using 3rd party software (excluding VideoReDo) to edit or burn to DVD, then make sure in Tivo Desktop, you uncheck the box that allows for faster transfers (see attached image).

thanks for all your suggestions.

one of the largest recordings is currently sized at 160gb.

after turning all channels to blank, I am getting transfer times of 33% to 50% of recorded time on XL4 and 100% on HDXL. These, however, are for recordings from 30mins to 8hrs. This is using a wired ethernet connection to my computer. I never check the box that allows for faster transfers. I have only used Tivo Desktop.

Let's see how a 24hr and 19hr recordings fair.

For some reason I get much higher transfer times when using wireless connection to my computer. anybody else experienced this? This is case on XL4. Never noticed a difference in ethernet vs wireless on HDXL.

Thanks again everyone.

The Premiere transfers at several times real time to TiVo Desktop.
At least if you have the faster transfer option selected.

Were the shorter recordings in SD? Keep in mind that analog SD will appear to transfer faster than digital SD which will appear to transfer faster than digital HD. That is because there is more data content per minute of recording as the video quality increases.

My Premiere transfers HD Video at between 1/4 and 1/3 real time (15-20 minutes to transfer a 1 Hour HD video).

That's confusing. I read "1/4 real time" as saying it takes 4 times as long as real time.

4x or 3x realtime is more accurate.
