Supernatural - "Goodbye Stranger"- 3/20/13

Signs you've been on Tumblr too much. I giggled like a 5 year old when they said Megstiel. Seriously Cristina?

And I'm sorry I've never liked Meg but for some reason I really warmed to her this episode just in time for them to kill her off in the most unremarkable way ever. She was the last character other than Sam and Dean that has been around since Season 1. That was a sad little send off for her IMO.

But so much good with her before that. Her and Cas made me smile. "Why are you so sweet on me, Clarence?" and Misha did a fine job in that scene. He's made Cas innocent and slightly flirty without the usual clueless Cas routine. And when Sam said something about her letting 150 innocent people die to buy herself some time her response of "Hi I'm Meg. I'm a demon." was just perfection. I think I might have actually snorted. And I LOVED their conversation outside. I loved they brought up that she had possessed him.
"But remember I spent time in that walking corpse of yours. I know your sad little thoughts and feelings" and just the way she said "thoughts and feelings" cracked me up so much. Then Sam and the look on his face and his "that's creepy" was the best. So yeah pretty much all things Meg in this episode were awesome until she died.

So the one big gripe I have is that they paralleled Swan Song with Dean and Cas because no no no no no. Swan Song is like the number 1 moment of brother moments. That Sam saw the flashes in the Impala and was able to overcome LUCIFER for his brother and their love. NOT EVEN THE SAME THING WRITERS. It literally made me angry. I would have been really happy for that entire scene had it been done in another way. I like that everyone in Dean's life have now been able to overcome possession/mind control for him. He thinks himself so meaningless, so worthless yet everyone around him loves him so much. John, Bobby, Sam and now Cas. I just wish they would have done that differently because it will now forever anger me instead of give me the warm fuzzies I want it to.

And I totally didn't get the LOTR thing at the end. Sadly. But I did like our ending brother feels again.

I think that's all I got for now. Maybe more when I watch again.

"Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"

They already brought Meg back once. No reason they can't do it again.

I wonder if Rachel Miner just didn't want to do it any more? She seemed a little bored, although it certainly worked for the character. I still haven't decided if I prefer her or the first Meg...

This was totally Meg's episode. She kept referring to Sam's unicorn, and that she got it. Then Crowley shows up and she tells Sam to save his brother and her unicorn, it spells out that what happened between Meg and Cas was love, at least on her part. And she would give all to know he was safe.

It's a world where even a demon can find love, how can evil ever hope to win?

They've never brought a demon back that's been knifed. Just like they've never brought an angel back that we've seen their winged burned. So I think that was it for Meg.

But let's face it, this has never been a show that has been overly constrained by the specific fantasies they've concocted. Meg is gone...until they find a reason for Meg to be back, in which case Meg will be back.

For that matter, they never really showed her erupt in light like other knifed demons have. It could be like Deadshot on Arrow...yes, the arrow went into his eyepiece, but that doesn't mean it went all the way into his brain. And sure enough, he came back. I have a hunch they staged it the way they did so that she could be in a Heisenbergian state, unresolved until the story takes a closer look.

Yeah, there were flashes, but there wasn't the full-out eruptions we usually see. So we don't really know if she's dead, mostly dead, or in a state where she could have escaped the body.

And I suspect the writers don't know either...that they left an out so they could bring her back if they want to some day.

As I suggested earlier, it's like Heisenberg's cat. She's both dead and alive. (All those quantum physicists look alike!)

Crowley got some lighting too and yet he walked off with "a flesh wound".

Of course, this is one of the few shows were you can have a literal Deus Ex Machina and it works in the character of the show.

And if Cas pulled Dean out of Hell.....

So, is this the last we see of Cas or will the Angel Tablet still play a role in the upcoming season finale?

And they've tortured demons by "lighting them up" but not fatally. When the demons die, it's more like an explosion of light, which they cut away from before it happened with Meg. So maybe it did, maybe it didn't.

Okay guys. I'm just gonna allow room for hope that she'll be back then. You've convinced me.

As for that being the last we see of Cas

don't read if you don't want to know

spoilers

seriously

Spoiler:
Misha said he'll be in the final 3 episodes so he's here for the remainder

If I remember correctly, Crowley was just a crossroads demon who was elevated to king of hell when Lucifer was sent back into the cage. They found his bones, didn't they? I thought he died in, I'm thinking Scotland, around 1500 or so. So... how could he have known Naomi in Mesopotamia? That would have been well before his time. Is that continuity mistake, or are they implying time travel?

Oh, and who exactly *IS* Naomi? She certainly does not care for Crowley much.

Spoiler:
Jensen might want a lighter schedule to spend time with his new baby.

Nah, for those Hollywood types
Spoiler:
babies are just accessories. That wouldn't be a factor.

I bet you do! That's pretty much me in any given situation throughout my day. Funny enough, I didn't even realize I was making that face in that photo!

There is one thing that bothers me about these trials on the Demon tablet.

Why are the boys so gung ho to do them that they don't wait for Kevin to give them all three instead of what they did?

If they did them back to back, would it minimize the damage that Sam has incurred?
