Thumbs up Unsubscribed Premiere, Guide Information on Remote

I have been using the BuddyTV Guide smartphone app for a couple of days. It works with my unsubscribed Premiere with the Premiere connected to the LAN. It lacks some of the functionality of using the app with a subscribed TiVo, but it works well as a remote to change the channel by tapping on a show.

So what good is an unsubscribed Premiere other than to use as a set top box? If it doesn't have the original SW (14.x) it won't even buffer live TV.

It is not nearly as good as a subscribed Premiere, but it saves me a significant amount of money. And, with older software versions setup like mine, it can do a little bit more than function as a tuner.

Having a remote on my phone is nice, but I have also been unsuccessfully looking for a virtual remote that runs on Ubuntu in a browser with guide information. Since I could not find it, I modified a virtual remote to do it. I am not a familiar with Python, but it appears to work. http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...21#post9291421 .
