Tivo Premiere will not transfer shows to my computer

I have had a Tivo Premiere for 2 years. During this time I have used the "Tivo Desktop" application and also kmttg to transfer shows from my Tivo to my PC.

I have never had a problem with this....... until now.

Tivo desktop and kmttg are both able to see the "now playing" list on my Tivo. However, neither of them can transfer shows off of the Tivo at all.

I restarted my computer.... that did not help.

I went to Tivo.com just to make sure that the settings on this Tivo are enabled to transfer shows..... everything is fine with that.

So how do I figure out what is wrong? I cannot think of anything else.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you also reboot your router?

Temporarily disable any firewalls and/or security software (Norton, McAfee etc.) and try again.

See if you can download using the basic browser method.

Well, it appears that I am not the only one who is having this problem. Multiple other posters on this board are complaining about the exact same thing.

Also, people on the tivo.com forum are reporting the exact same problem.

One person on this website named figmund suggested a quick, easy workaround, and it works great. I went into kmttg and clicked the box "use java to transfer shows instead of curl"........ and presto, problem solved.

FYI...... figmund has posted on this board a total of 3 times since 2003....... he/she should post more often!

I am guessing a bit here, but evidently the Tivo company has done something which has screwed up transfers for their users. Perhaps they implemented a new firmware upgrade which contains some sort of bug?
