Homeland | "One Last Time" | 2013-11-24

No thread yet?

Really picking up the pace now now in the final 4 episodes. Now the first 4 episodes of this season seem like even more of a waste of time.

Love that Saul has dirt on the Senator. Buys him some time to get his "play" in motion.

Good ep.

I love the Saul vs Senator stuff. What a dink, played perfectly!

We had Dana, but a tolerable performance this ep. REALLY hope they can avoid the whole Carey/Brody romance angle in the remaining eps.

But the whole "play" is so ludicrous. Drop him at the border and then 12 unlikely steps later he's in a position to kill some powerful person in the Iranian government? And that puts Javadi in charge? Hey, no worries, we already have sat-com at the exfiltration meet-up place. You'll be fine. Look at how quickly you went from crapping yourself to being superbad again - 16 days later!

Jeez, I can already see more Brody in Season 4.

But it was an OK episode. We FF'd through the withdrawal scenes. All the acting (except Dana) is good. It has been an oddly paced season, though.

The senator isn't discreet enough to hide a simple eavesdropping "mission" and he wants to be CIA director? LOL

The hand waving in this one was so heavy I felt a breeze.

Carrie gets shot from a high powered sniper rifle. -"The bullet went right through. Go home."

Brody is a heroin addict. -"The mumble drug will dry him out cold turkey in 36 hours." Does modern medicine know about this? A lot of monkeys would be removed from a lot of backs.

And then, of course, Brody is back to fighting trim in a week.

At least the plot is moving now.

Obviously you don't watch enough television.

Or you'd know how plausible all that stuff actually is.

The drug is real... And apparently is used to help with opioid withdrawal... Not sure it works as well as portrayed on the show..

I also predict this turn to mean good things for Saul and that he won't be ousted should the senator get confirmed... although I'm guessing he will find a way to gracefully bow out - he likely has other dirt in his closet that he doesn't want to get out - especially now that he knows Saul et al. are better players in this game then he is.

I also found it interesting that he showed his hand to Carrie about knowing about Brody and not believing her story. All this time she thought she had one over on him.

Saul will keep the picture as leverage on the Senator/Director but they know that Saul can't use it, as he said, for fear of damaging his own wife.

When Carrie complains to Saul about how Brody would have no way to exfil, the way Saul said "we'll have people on the ground" sounded like he didn't even believe what he was saying.

What is boouuugus is anyone expecting that if Brody pulls off the assassination, he'd be a hero back home again. He killed the Vice-President, and Walker, and the tailor, and helped Walker kill the others.

Besides, Javadi becomes the head of Iranian intelligence after he lets Brody waltz out of the country?

I don't think anyone is expecting that.

Nobody knows he did anything other than Langley (which it will be proven he didn't do).

And I don't think Javadi would be blamed if Brody leaves. Is he supposed to be involved in bringing him in from the border?

My plot hole is, once Javadi is in charge of the entire Iranian government, what does he have to fear from Saul? He's not gonna declare himself a traitor.

Javadi is supposed to head the Red Guard(?) He can still get sentenced to death if his embezzlement was known. The Ayatollah, Parliament(?) and President still outrank him.

What was the explanation for how Saul's wife met the guy she was sleeping with?

I'm kind of glad that whole story line seems to have played out. I was worried we were jumping in 24 mole territory.

Did they say how long ago that was? Was the Senator in on them meeting? He just didn't come across as savvy enough to put things in motion that far in advance.

So the Mossad had a long term program to get intel from the US CIA and they just happened to get a tidbit the Senator could use. We can imagine that they cozied up to the soon-to-be CIA director to get him to share intel.

If they met after the Langley bombing, it makes sense. If they met before the Langley bombing, it makes no sense.
