I'm no expert, but it looks to be an Army Battlehawk, in full combat load out.

No way he's their son, he's too young.

(Although judging by their clothing, their death would have been in the late 1950s at the latest so you may very well be right.)

This all definitely connected to the river.
It seems like all these people died in or near the river.
Maybe the town folk should put up signs that say "Don't Go Near The River! It Will Kill You!"

That's why I was wondering what year they were from. I don't recall them saying that.

So the ever-helpful Army arrives with truckloads of supplies because people had "a power outage or something", yet they don't notice or care that the town is completely intact and most of the people that they are supplying are dressed in weird clothes? Yeah right.

From the way they were dressed I couldn't believe they would be from any time after the 50s, maybe early 60s. That would put the Fed guy in his 50s at the youngest. Put it this way, he's maybe around 40 at the oldest - so that means the family would be from the early to mid 70s - just doesn't look like it.

Maybe Amber Tamblyn can visit and channel God for some explanations (Arcadia again?!)!

Yeah, but ... if the Fed is the first to be returned, wouldn't he have started aging again from the time he returned???!!! Based on Jacob and on the sheriff's wife, it seems that they return as the same age they were when they left. If they Fed left at, say age 10 and returned sometime in the 80s, that would put his age now as just about right.

If he is a "returned", it would explain why he was so drawn to come to the town.

The clothes the black woman and her daughter are wearing remind me of clothes that I saw in the 40s and 50s.

It ticks me off that this show didn't come to a good stopping/interruption point. We still don't know if they're going to pick it up again for another season.

I do like the show, though.

In real life, Omar Epps is currently 40 years old (source: Wikipedia).

Maybe in the show, he drowned and then returned years earlier than the others?

Hmm, maybe so. They haven't given us much of a backstory on him ... yet. Probably the plan for next season.

Good point, I hadn't thought of him as returned; just as having survived that incident. This all makes sense, and actually adds a new slant. How many other renegade returnees from a while back (and presumably not from or drawn to Arcadia) are out there just living among the population?

And of course he need not know that he's returned. Confused toddler found by side of road...

If there are other early returnees who were adults when they died, that would raise other interesting questions.

He would have to be, since we know returnees (even young ones like Jacob) remember dying and being resurrected.

But if he was a toddler, what would he remember?

I read somewhere a long-long time ago that we don't really remember much before the age of 8 years old ... mostly because we don't have the language to associate with the memories.

Jacob's was an extremely vivid memory because he was involved in trying to save someone. I don't know; but, I imagine if you were overtaken and drowned in a rapid rise of water, you might not have a heck of a lot of memories to go along with that experience.

I can see four years old but eight? Everyone I know remembers alot of things from when they were between 5 and 8 years old. Personally I certainly remember alot of things from when I was five and older. But at four years old, things are a pretty hazy for me.

I just power watched all 8 episodes. Glad it is being renewed for next year as it is somewhat interesting.

I haven't read any threads so as not to be spoiled, but my general thoughts while watching it was that everyone is dead and they are at some type of stopping point where they need to face unresolved issues before they can move on.
