Using Amazon Prime On Demand

Since we dumped Netflix, we have been watching movies from Amazon on Demand through our Series 2 TiVo.

All we have been able to watch, though, are the pay per view movies.

We are Amazon Prime members but we cannot figure out how to get the free Amazon Prime movies & tv shows Via our TiVo. Is this possible to do?

Search is your friend. Many threads on this. Amazon has not written an app for Tivo for Prime.

Cheapest solution may be a low-end Roku. It will support Amazon Prime video and won't add any recurring fees. $50 or so.

With playon.tv software running on a well powered internet connected computer, your tivo can access amazon prime instant videos and other internet content. There is information in the cutting the cord thread on setting up an enhanced version of pytivo that can serve up playon content (including amazon) to the tivo. I have found the easiest way to do this is to browse amazon on my computer first and add any free instant prime videos I want to watch to my "wishlist".

A lifetime subscription to playon is currently on sale for $40 and a lifetime subscription to playon and a roku lt is on sale for $60.

And a Roku is $50 with no need to setup a PC with playon and pytivo.

I can't stand the picture I got from playon running to my big screen. Granted, Playon was running off of my slow computer, so maybe that was part of the issue. However, I think Playon only streams in SD, not HD.

I have a $49 Roku that is problem free for streaming Amazon Prime video.

Yep, PlayOn is really not all that good. I would prefer a version of something like it on the Mac anyway.
