save recorded programs ??

I have in the past restored a non booting drive. Apparently the drive was not completely bad, but good enough to re-rwite the operating system & boot. I am now in the same situation but wanting to save the data, any way to re-write the o/s & save the data?

ericl007,

You can use TiVo Desktop or TiVo Desktop Plus to transfer recordings off of the TiVo if it still boots up. If it does not boot up completely there is not currently a way of backing-up or saving data that is currently on the disk. See the link below for instructions on how to use TiVo Desktop.

Thanks!

Look on the back of the unit and find the model number that starts with TCD and post that here.

Do you have an external drive attached.

Is the drive inside the original one?

I may know a trick you can try.
