not telling TiVo all the channels I receive?

TiVo asks me what channels I receive. If I do not select a channel that I do receive, I'm assuming that TiVo won't look there for suggestions. (For instance excluding the children's channels, or the shopping channels, ... )

Can I still access that channel from TiVo, live TV ... ?

The channel won't display in the guide and won't record suggestions. You still have access to the channel if you input the channel number.

The existence of a channel has got nothing to do with the suggestions you pass. You will continue to have access to all your channels by just entering the channel numbers.

I've found that my TiVo will not allow me to record channels marked as not received, so I don't think it is only suggestions that won't record on the channel.
