Closed captioning on Netflix?

I just read that Netflix has settled the lawsuit against them for not having closed captions available on all material, and has agreed to do so. They also claim that ~90% of their material already has captions. So how do I get my TiVO Series 3 to show them?

don't know about the 3, but on the premiere (with the "new" interface) when you make a selection, it shows choices

-audio/subtitles

Netflix is only updated on Premieres and not the older Series 3/HD

Wait, are you telling me that I can't see closed captions on Tivo, only the newer Premieres etc?

Will I do better if I bypass Tivo and go straight to my Vizio?

PS sorry about reviving this old thread but it's the first one I've found relevant to my Netflix questions!

The older Netflix app on S3 TiVos can display captions. I haven't used it in a long time, but I recall you could turn on captions for a title BEFORE you start playing a title. It's definitely possible as I used Netflix captions frequently when I had S3 TiVos.

Thanks. Do you know how to "turn on captions for a title"? We always have CC turned on but I don't know how to do it in Netflix.

I've also signed in on my Vizio and, while it's playing "Midsomer Murders" quite nicely, it isn't playing CC there either. I'm at a loss for how to do this. I can't go to any settings on Netflix either on my TiVo or my Vizio. And I have so many questions about it. If I can get it going just on my TV, I think I'll be watching less Tivo!

With cursor over the Netflix title (before playing it) get to the information page and you should see "Audio and Subtitles" page where you can select captions language which is off by default. Some titles don't have captions. Checking just now via iPad Netflix the "Midsomer Murders" title did give me option to enable captions, so appears to have them. I can't give more details since I don't have a plugged in S3 unit to check.

Thanks for all your time on this! I don't think it's possible. I don't have choices, and, perusing the Netflix info on CC, it seems my VIZIO E422VA doesn't have whatever is required for Netflix CC. "None Available" Bummer.

Must be such a different process than the TV or TiVo, as both are totally CC!

I guess my next TV . . . ?
