Hit them kind of like a 3 yr old with a hollow plastic bat on a life-size bear pinata.

Oh please. The Enterprise has SHIELDS. The Destroyer is dead meat.

Beam a photon torpedo inside, detonate, boom. Done. Same with the Death Star. "Shielded against laser fire" is not SHIELDED.

.

Please do not "Fixed Your Post" on my posts. I find that rude and annoying. Thank you for your consideration.

For me I was surprised how well it did work. I'm certainly looking forward to the sequel to the prequel next year.

I took the "new Star Trek" to be a complete retelling. Same way I think of the "new Batman", "new Spiderman", "new Superman"....or the "new Battle Star Galatica"

Nothing inherently wrong with that....as long as they make a clean break.

The Hand Of Thrawn would make an excellent trilogy. I think different actors would be able to pull it off no problem.....as much as we love them, none of their acting was Oscar worthy, IMHO.

Yes the extended universe is HUGE, but to me (and to me what else matters? ), the Zahn stories stay true to the original Trilogy......where all stories should mesh.

It's going to be an original story according to a source. Of course sources have been known to be wrong before, but I'm guessing that it's true.

They won't directly adapt any existing material--not only would it be too dependent on the original characters, but it would be known already. They could wind up borrowing from Zahn or other existing storylines, but they won't do a direct adaptation.

This will be new Star Wars. There won't even necessarily be an end game in mind (ie, the prequels building up to the creation of Vader). Kind of exciting.

It would be a little weird if the guy in charge of the Star Trek franchise were also in charge of the Star Wars franchise...

That would make it easier to have the Enterprise blast a star destroyer, no?

Were there any Vulcans in the Senate scenes in the prequels? I know Lucas hid some easter eggs in those scenes with "species" from other movies (I want to say E.T. and ALF were shown), but I can't recall if any Star Trek species were show.

If so...CROSSOVER!

(Yeah, not a Star Trek fan, but I did see, and was somewhat impressed with, Abrams reboot.)
