IFC "The Spoils of Babylon" The Foundling ep1

Caught the 1st episode of this IFC mini series (I Guess 6 30 minute episodes)

Created by SNL writers. Cast includes Toby McGuire, Tim Robbins, Kristin Wiig, Haley Joel Osment Will Ferrell.

A satire of the 70-80's melodramas.

I chuckled a few times...

Very uneven. Most humor came from run on sentences. I will watch a bit more before deciding. Second episode/half seemed to go quickly which is usually a good sign.

We cackled at the "sets," the "cars," the "planes"- thought it very funny.
I guess you need a bit of a buzz to enjoy it

I did wonder how they ever got the funding to make it, though.

Looks like it is produced by Funny or Die.

Since it was supposedly shot on "93-millimeter film," but was supposed to be a '70s made-for-TV miniseries, I'm waiting for a visual joke involving something unintentionally showing up on the side of the picture (i.e., something that would have been cropped out in the actual broadcast version). That kind of thing might be a bit too sophisticated for the Funny or Die crowd, though.
