Does the MINI have basic functions without subscrition?

Hey Guys,

Any thoughts or fears of the Tivo Mini failing? We all know with TIVO units, the percentage is really small and it's usually fixable by swapping hard drives. But the Mini's longevity is unknown at this moment, and there is no hard drive. So failure would basically mean the end of it.

Also, does the Mini have basic functions without subscription? You know, just to make sure I don't get a lemon prior to slapping lifetime on it.

Nope. Without a sub it does nothing.

I see the Mini's lack of a hard drive (or any moving parts) as a plus. If it works for 30 days it'll probably work for years.

Tivo's warranty is 1 year. So do they work with you to transfer the lifetime if they need to give you a new box?

Warranty repairs through TiVo, no problem. If it breaks after a year, they'll normally work with you for a reduced rate on a replacement, but it will depend on your situation.
