THE LEAGUE - Entire Season 5 Thread

Just thought I'd start an entire season thread for The League as it seems this is a better option for this show than episode threads.

As for the Rafi episode (I think it was #4?), I'm with the others (in the other thread) that feel Rafi is best in small doses - didn't really care for this entirely-Rafi-centered episode. Too much Rafi is like getting busted smoking as a kid and having to smoke a whole pack - just sickening after a while.

Get back to the core gang, please?

The core gang is funny enough without having to have a Raffi only episode. And Dirty Randy is just not a very funny character. The interaction between the core group of friends is what makes this show. To me Taco is "out there" enough to satisfy the "weird friend" category.

Well Rafi is now out in LA for over a year, which means he shouldn't be in any more episodes this season.

Isn't he dead?

I'm sure that won't stop Rafi.

I'm hoping the crew (including Ruxin) is back, this week.

While I agree Rafi is best in small doses, there were some funny things about that episode. And I liked that he could never get Kevin's name right.

When I saw the end credits and noticed David Krumholtz (or whatever his name is from Numb3ers) was one of the pornographers, I had to go back and look again because I hadn't even picked up on that.

I saw that in the credits and didn't recognize him either.

I spotted Krumholtz right away and immediately wondered if that was a prosthetic or if he actually got fat.

I hate to thread crap because I really have enjoyed this show, but I am just NOT liking this season. It is almost as if somebody came to them and told them they needed to remove almost every Fantasy Football reference and focus on gay or drug jokes.

It is very disjointed. The ff stuff kind of provided a centerline and it does seem they are just paying it minimal lip service.

The last episode the major gag was BASED on a FF trade. It's really always been that way. I've always felt that the show was about the group of friends who happen to be in a FF league and it's one of the things that bonds them together, otherwise they might have gone their separate ways. I sometimes forget about the league part of it because I love watching the characters interact. There's just enough FF to keep the show on course. They mention the Sacko and the Shiva almost every week, and there's always some mention of a trade or player pickup or what they need to do to watch the games. That's all that's needed in my opinion.

This season hasn't been doing it for me either. I don't know if it is because it is not as good or if it is because it is the first time I've only watched one episode a week. I watched the entire series from the beginning in a few weeks earlier this year.

My TiVo cut off the end segment of last night's episode. I have it set to record the repeat on Saturday night.

I'm still enjoying the show. I love how they rip on Andre and how Taco just seems to constantly be lucking into success.

Kevin and Ruxin, on the other hand, used to be portrayed as smart and successful, but this season they seem to be making both of them into complete idiots. That's bad writing.

I totally agree with this. Ruxin used to be my favorite. Very smart, quick, and diabolical. Now he's just a goofball.

I also didn't buy in to Jenny having any interest in a club like the LLC.

This! I never saw her as the type that needed to impress the upper crust (although she IS the type to want to impress celebrities or sports figures )

Taco at the meeting with the LLC was awesome though. The rest of the episode was not so great.

+1 I completely agree with you. I'm still watching in hopes that it'll redeem itself, but I'm thoroughly disappointed so far. It may be time for the show to end - I think they're just running out of the creative jokes that got me hooked in early seasons.

I really enjoyed last night's episode, "The Credit Card Alert." Andre getting punched out for looking like Pete was great, and the two hot women at the end was very nice.

And last week's was pretty good, as well.

Show is much better the past few episodes since they are back on track. Little more focus on FF and how it impacts there lives is what made it very funny.

I agree. It was a very good episode. I didn't realize until the credits that the married woman (Georgie) was Ari Lartner, from Heroes. She looks smokin' Too bad she doesn't qualify for the over 40s thread!!)

I am sure there are quite a few in the over 40's thread that don't qualify one more won't hurt.

Totally agree. The last 2 episodes have been vintage League. FF has been the driving force of the plot lines. Glad to have it back on track.

Did anybody else think the married women was going to end up being married to the coach? That's how I thought it was going to happen.
