What's this nonsense?

For instance, after browsing TiVo’s extensive library of listings to find a specific episode of “Seinfeld,” I had the option of watching it immediately on Amazon Prime or telling Roamio to record it the next time it showed up on cable.

Probably is mistaken with which service it is available through. Who has Seinfeld streaming?

Nobody...

I think he was just trying to make a point - in reality tivo doesn't have Amazon Prime and Amazon doesn't have Seinfeld.

On the other hand, the functionality he describes does exist and is a big selling point for TiVo.

It would help if he made the point with a service TiVo offered.

It looks like Seinfeld has some episodes on Crackle and Xfinity so he might have comcast.

Well, in that case he's no doubt been driven quite insane, and therefore likely to say anything.

Looks like the review was updated to say Hulu instead of Amazon Prime.

I tweeted the author about the discrepancy and he switched it to Hulu, even though Seinfeld isn't there either. In the end I guess getting people away from the misconception of TiVo supporting Amazon Prime is enough.

Sounds like the author just made up whatever he wanted to.

I might have tried to get away with something like that in high school.

I thought the NY Times went through something like this where some writer totally made up a story about some kid from Harlem or something like that. (Poor kid struggling with something.)

Kinda makes me wonder if he actually has a Tivo. If you are going to Tweet specific things like that, why not just use an actual experience you had?

So strange:

My reply
@GregoryNYC no Seinfeld online legally except Crackle must be another show.

And his response.
@jolpadgett Checking with the folks at TiVo now. Stay tuned.

So maybe he returned the unit before writing the article and just didn't remember what show and service. Or maybe he just wrote it based up marketing materials.

Ars Technical reviews the Roamio too. Worst part of the experience was... dealing with the cable company.
