Was it just me, or did his American accent make him sound like Christian Slater?

That's funny. I read that in one of the critic's reviews before the show aired.

Kind of, all though at times, I thought that he was also doing a bad Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark impersonation when he was acting as Grayson.
(And I suspect that the reason Grayson is said to be American is so that Meyers doesn't have to do a British or Romanian accent.)

It's not a horrible show and it does give me a Jessica De Gouw fix but I have to agree that based on what I've seen so far, Meyers was the wrong choice for Dracula.

To me, it sounded like that old-timey movie cadence from the early talkies through the 50s, before more naturalistic acting came into style. A little over-enunciated, slightly sped up, a little sing-song.

I watched it. I liked it. I expect the story will pick up a bit, but it's only one episode and it's got me intrigued. How many shows can you say that about, especially this season? The production values are topnotch, which is extremely rare these days.

I noticed that the image quality seems much better than most network shows. It looks more like film than TV. If nothing else, it's great eye candy for showing off your HDTV.

I watched it and enjoyed it, but can't seem to recall anything else about it!

I'm rapidly losing interest in this- it doesn't feel as if it is going anywhere, and JRM's character is seriously lacking charisma for me.
What's a vampire without charisma?
I fell asleep three times trying to watch it real time and again while watching it with hub. All it does is make me want to watch a real Dracula movie/show.

Maybe it's a wink to the 1931 Dracula who went to London and stayed at Carfax Abbey.

Ah, I didn't even think of that angle. I just assumed it was a reference to Carfax Abbey too.
