They should have already done that 6 months to a year ago and made them the beta testers instead of the paying customers.

Didn't some of the employees sell them?

What does it matter? Still would need to have a service contract, and the employee would still be selling it at the same price the retail stores do. Plus it's possible the TSN is assigned to the employee so if it's sold it'd still be on record. TiVo told me in the past that if you sell your equipment to someone else, TiVo would still be able to see the history of the TSN and who the previous owner was. Possible that the employee would get in trouble if caught?

That tweet is from 48 days ago, when the Roamio launched. I remember seeing a post about it back then.

If it was a gift the employees should feel free to use them, sell them, or bury them in the backyard.

But that raises the question, when TiVo gave these away, was any TiVo service included, or was it just the hardware?

Well that's one way to get subscriber counts up!!

It wouldn't cost Tivo anything to give service away for free. But you'd expect some to show up on ebay if they were given lifetime.

Maybe as TiVo employees they get free monthly service, but if they leave it's cut off an they're left to pay for it themselves?

Someplace else there are reports that these are appearing on craigslist near the Tivo offices.

I thought everyone gets a free Tivo when they become an employee regardless..

I hope it's the 6 tuner version..

Hmm, how much on craigslist?

The service they will likely get is type 11: Evaluation. It remains in effect as long as they own it. If the service is transferred it is at TiVo's discretion to void the service or maintain it.
