Sons of Anarchy - 10/22/13 - "Sweet and Vaded"

Tara is really working the long con. I had suspected the pregnancy results were faked.

Adienne Barbeau!! It's been a long time since Swamp Thing.

Lowen better catch the first train out of town once Jax figures everything out. Wendy too.

Like Gemma, I was all "Wtf?" when Tara jumped on the corner of the desk. The blood transfusion thing clued me into the fake pregnancy but I didn't expect Tara to frame Gemma like that.

Who the heck would let their kids go to a candy store run by a gang of outlaw bikers that just had their club house blowed up?

I was also surprised that Barofsky ran the plate for Jax since he knew the DA was aware of his SAMCRO connection.

I didn't see Jax blowing Adrienne Barbeaux's brains all over the wall either but then again, she just wouldn't stfu. I'm still surprised he did it before actually finding the kiddie porn.

Nevermind Vincent...Jax needs to to Jackson under wraps..

Don't get Lowens role in this..she doesn't have a tie to the kids so why put her practice and life in danger.

I haven't watched the show yet, but I was wondering why it took so long to see an episode thread created.

It used to be that a thread was started while the show was airing...I guess the thrill is gone for a lot of people!

One sticking point for me: At one point she was getting checked out at the hospital and Jax was led out of the room. Wouldn't that doctor and nurse have to be in on it? They're going to check well enough to know there wasn't a pregnancy, right?

Or does Tara just say, I know, but you have to respect doctor patient confidentiality?

That's what I was wondering. It was the first time I had to create a thread for it.

Well played Tara!

But Wayne loves Gemma, so he's gonna be on her side.

I could tell by the look in his eye a minute before Jax blew Alice's brains out.

That will give Robocop firsthand knowledge to cut a deal with the DA.

Surprising (but not shocking) that it was Jax, not Tig, who snapped. Tig may be the club's official loose cannon, but Jax has had his share of impulsive violence.

It always amazes me how open-minded the Sons are.

Not so much a matter of 'letting' the kids buy candy there as kids will buy candy wherever it's sold, and parental disapproval is only adding frosting to it ...

Everything I've seen Walton Goggins in, the writers totally pander to his ability to deliver an eloquent line.

Delivering the lines wearing such a "nice" prosthetic just adds to the eloquence.

The look on Tig's face when he was attempting the hover hand was priceless as well.

I had to look up "vaded" - it means when one person gets drunk and another person gets high. Two sides of the same coin. Jax and Venus are like that - both the product of controlling, crazy mothers....one became a criminal thug, the other a transexual - two sides of the same coin.

I think when Venus was explaining how he grew up to Jax, Jax saw his own upbringing. And when he shot Alice, he was hearing Gemma ranting on.

Just my thoughts.

I think that Robocop cleaning up Jax's kill is going to end up being leverage against Jax sooner than later.

I took it as reality to what his kids were going through and he had heard enough.

Seems like lots of people are naming their kid Jax now:

Adrienne Barbeau is 68 years old. I still remember her from Maude.

Really. Most MC's are all one skin color and completely racist, or even white supremacy groups. But of course that would not play well on television. So SAMCRO is the only one which is not? Doesn't seem likely at all.

In fact, was there not an episode last season where the Sheriff blackmailed Juice with a threat to tell the others that his Father was Black?

In the real world, Puerto Ricans and whites would be in different gangs.

The big underlying storyline is how the framing of Gemma, and the paperwork Jax signed to strip her of her grandparent rights will affect Nero's decision on ratting out the club for the gun and the other murders. Seems obvious that Nero's loyalty is to Gemma and not the club. Someone (maybe an old ex-prez?) is gonna have to off him in jail to shut him up.

I noticed in the disclaimer that there was a warning for language and violence. I guess prison butt-banging doesn't earn a warning for strong sexual images anymore? I know I can't get it out of my head

I loved the annoyed look on Nero's face. I half-expected him to say, "Could you please keep it down?!? I'm trying to sleep!"

Jax's kid may have been better off being kidnapped and sold by the Irish.

I'm not sure how to interpret that last shot of Wendy and Unser in the chapel. Did Tara really play her and is aiming to have Margaret as guardian?

I'm also wondering whether the guardianship papers were snuck into the stuff Jax was signing so very carelessly

Good to see Tig in love. Hopefully Goggins is in another one or two before the series wraps next year.

The way I took it, when Jax was hearing Adrienne Barbeaux talk, everything she was saying could fit with Jax's own kids later on. I think it hit really close to home for him and he shot her to get her to stfu.

Wow I hope not. What a horrible character that has no place in the show. I thought this was one of the worst episodes of the series aside from Jax blowing the lady's brains out.

I thought the season was pretty good until this episode.

Really?

I've been a little disappointed with this season so far. It's way too soapy compared to previous seasons. Still very watchable, just not quite as good.

It was less soapy than the whole kid in Ireland season which almost lost me as a viewer. And I liked Donal Logue's psycho character. Been a bit Tara heavy in recent episodes but I still like it better than probably the last two seasons.

Agree with this. Tara and Gemma are by far my 2 least favorite characters on the show but I kinda liked the payoff of this episode. At least it got that plot moving. I was tired of watching them sneak around and talk about stuff. Get on with it already!

I started out this season not liking Jax but his character is growing on me again. I think I'd like him a lot better if Tara were out of the picture. Just don't see what he sees in her. Especially now that she's been so cold towards him. I really like what Jax is trying to do for the club even though we know that it's not going to stay this way or the show would get boring in a hurry.

The main thing that bothers me on this show is the BS charges that the police are trying to hold over the club. Tara's charge, for example. I feel that any decent lawyer would eat that case up. No motive. No proof that she knew what Otto was going to do. I'm sure she should be charged with something but accessory to murder is ridiculous.

Well, the problem for me is that there are too many storylines going at once, although some are resolving...

1. Tara and the kids.
2. The crazy marshall (resolving)
3. The DA on a mission/school shooting
4. Nero being framed.
5 The whole Irish situation.
6 Bobby 'going Nomad' (resolved-ish)
7 The whole Clay situation (sems to change every week!)
8 The Pope aftermath and new boss
9 The bad cop
10 Possible repercussions from the Iranians

Did I miss anything?

Too many threads gets confusing for my simple brain!
