Used Tivo purchase

I bought a used Tivo off of Craig's list and I need to know how to get it registered onto my account so my PC and other Tivos will communicate with it. I think the Media Access Key on the new device needs to be changed to match my other Tivos and the Tivo Desktop program. I can't find on Tivo.com how to do this. I asked the person I purchased it from if he had registered it in his Tivo account and he did not know what I was talking about so I don't think he ever registered it online.

So did the person who sold it advertise it as having a lifetime subscription?

Was it ever subscribed?

Let me go log into my account on the TiVo website and see where they put that thing.

Yes, it has a lifetime subscription and that shows up on the System Information screen. He said his ex-girl friend gave it to him as a gift.

Just call Tivo to have it transferred to your account and then it'll have the same MAK as your others.

I'm going to assume she dumped him.

Once you have the Tivo on your account, go under DVR Preferences, and check on Transfers and Downloads. It may take up to 24 hrs, but it will have the same MAK as the others on your account.

Hopefully she gave him the Tivo before they broke up or I would check it for delayed destructive devices... And traces of white powder
