Your favorite Law & Order Franchise detectives.

There were so many! But I was just wondering what everyone's favorites were.

Go to this link and there's a list.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_%26..._the_franchise

There are so many, but I think this'd be my top five:

1. Lennie Briscoe. One of my favorite characters on TV period.
2. Robert Goren (CI) Love his mental instability.
3. Munch (SVU): He makes me laugh
4. Zach Nichols (CI) Weird choice, but he really grew on me in his one season.
5. This one's a toss up. I loved Alex Eames, but I also enjoyed Captain Danny Ross (CI)

(List however many you like.)

Brisco was definitely my favorite of the franchise, I also liked the combination of Chris Noth and Annabella Sciorra on CI. On SVU I liked Dean Winters but that's probably partially because of his work on Oz.

I HATED Chris Noth in this. I don't know why. I like him in other things. But Law and Orders? Ugh.

I too liked Dean Winters for the exact same reason.

Stabler is an excellent choice as well. He'd definitely be...probably #6 or 7 for me.

If I'd ever watched it, I'm sure it would have been a tie between Belzer and Farina.

The late, great Lennie Brisco couldn't be beat and I loved the dynamic between Elliot and Olivia.

The worst? For me, by far, it was Vince D'onofrio. Because of him, I could never watch CI!

As I said in the Dennis Farina RIP thread, I loved it when Det Joe Fontana was trying to get some receptionist to give up a client list or something and they were being hesitant, he would just say "It's okay, we're authorized." And it always worked.

I love Stabler, but a tiny part of me can't unsee some of the things he did in Oz.

Eta: he was still magnificent in that show though.

Lenny Briscoe, first and foremost and forever.

Then Kate Beckett. Whaddya mean, she's not in Law & Order? OK, a toss-up between Mac Taylor and Danny Regan. Whaddya mean, they're not in Law & Order, either? Andy Sipowicz? Diane Russell? Not them, either?

Sheesh.

Goren all the way. He's weird, he's brilliant, but he's not quite as smart as he thinks he is. And I enjoy watching his face as he puzzles something out when he's wrong.

Lennie!!!

Great character and he always had the snappy comebacks a detective who's seen it all should have.

A sampling:

Quote:
Black Tie (episode title)
(Viewing a corpse in a tuxedo)
Lennie: Conveniently dressed for his funeral.

Sanctuary
Lennie: We don't really give a damn about these people looting and bustin' up people's cars. That's not our department. We're homicide.
Suspect: So?
Lennie: So, your friend there is homicidin' somebody.

Old Friends
Mike (discussing infidelity as a motive for murder): Don't wives always know?
Lennie: Mine did.
Mike: Yours didn't hire a hit man.
Lennie: Not yet.

Scoundrel
Coffee cart vendor (deciphering an order for "skinny cap, no lead."): Decaffeinated cappuccino, with skim milk.
Lennie: What's the point?

Progenitor
Lab technician: It's a photocopy from a machine with dirt on the drums...If you get me the machine and it hasn't been serviced, I can maybe do a positive I.D.
Lennie: Oh great. We'll organize a line-up of Xerox machines.
I miss Jerry Orbach.

I liked them all. Lennie was the best and I think Lennie & Benjamin Bratt were my favorite pairings, but I liked them all.

Brisco and Stabler. I'm also a fan of Dennis Farina's (RIP) brief character, Joe Fontana.

Lenny Brisco was the quintessential NYPD detective.

Robert Goren is my second favorite because of his problem solving skills.

I came out of work one day and found they were filming near my office. I got to see Jerry Orbach get into a cabbie's face. When it was over somebody yelled, "Get 'em Lenny" and we all applauded.

It had to have been in 1992-93, because Logan & Cragen were there.
