Prop mistakes in The Killing.

In a recent episode radio communications between officers played a central role. Obviously noone involved with obtaining props for the show is an amateur radio operator.

In the show the cophouse base radio was repeatedly shown tuned to the 20-meter ham band which is exclusively assigned to the amateur radio service in the US not public service. And, even if they had FCC special permission to use it, it is not particularly effective for local communications.

And finally, one of the detectives used a handheld radio to communicate with the base radio but handheld units are not manufactured for this band.

Let the "so whats" begin.

We could start a separate thread for stupid stuff we notice on TV shows.

IMDB has "goofs" section. I don't recall if it is just for movies of TV shows also.

But usually they're goofs that at least a small percentage of the population would care about/notice, no?

Some are, some aren't. And some are misperceptions that are really correct.
