Disappointed Tatiana Maslany wasn't nominated for Orphan Black. I realize it doesn't fit the Emmy mold, but her performance was incredible.

Tough between GOT and MM, but I felt GOT was on par with other seasons and MM just slightly a notch below. Missing Boardwalk Empire, Suits, Orphan Black, The Americans

Lead actor in drama series:

Hugh Bonneville, Downton Abbey, PBS
Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad, AMC
Jeff Daniels, The Newsroom, HBO
Jon Hamm, Mad Men, AMC
Damian Lewis, Homeland, Showtime
Kevin Spacey, House of Cards, Netflix

I thought Daniels just nailed that part. Jon Hamm was excellent too. I would have added Steve Buschemi as well

Lead actress in a drama series

Connie Britton, Nashville, ABC
Claire Danes, Homeland, Showtime
Michele Dockery, Downton Abbey, PBS
Vera Farmiga, Bates Motel, A&E
Elisabeth Moss, Mad Men, AMC
Kerry Washington, Scandal, ABC
Robin Wright, House of Cards, Netflix

Only show I watch..wins by default. Totally overlooked Tatiana Maslany of Orpahn Black and Keri Russell of The Americans

Outstanding comedy series
The Big Bang Theory, CBS
Girls, HBO
Louie, FX
Modern Family, ABC
30 Rock, NBC
Veep, HBO

30 Rock wasn't that good, compared to other seasons. Modern Family had more "misses" than I could remember. TBBT is consistently funny.

Lead actor in comedy series

Jason Bateman, Arrested Development, Netflix
Louis CK, Louie, FX
Don Cheadle, House of Lies, Showtime
Matt LeBlanc, Episodes, Showtime
Jim Parsons, Big Bang Theory, CBS
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock, NBC

Parsons is still great in this roll. I like Bateman too, but haven't seen all episodes yet. I don't think you could include Louie CK who's playing himself.

Lead actress in comedy series

Lena Dunham, Girls, HBO
Laura Dern, Enlightened, HBO
Tiny Fey, 30 Rock, NBC
Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation, NBC
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Veep, HBO
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie, Showtime

I voted Tina Fey as it's the only one I watch.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series
Adam Driver, Girls, HBO
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Modern Family, ABC
Ed O'Neill, Modern Family, ABC
Ty Burrell, Modern Family, ABC
Bill Hader, Saturday Night Live, NBC
Tony Hale, Veep, HBO

He makes the show for me I would have added Garret Dillahunt from Rasing Hope who I think has excellent timing, and Neil Flynn from The Middle...a show that gets no respect from anyone.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Mayim Bialik , The Big Bang Theory, CBS
Jane Lynch,Glee, FOX
Sofia Vergara , Modern Family, ABC
Julie Bowen,Modern Family, ABC
Merritt Wever , Nurse Jackie, Showtime
Jane Krakowski ,30 Rock, NBC
Anna Chlumsky , Veep, HBO
Mayim plays that part SO perfectly. Easy win for me.

Can't say I'm too surprised by anything here. And I've actually watched some of these shows!!

I've Bolded my choices and commented in italics

It is an absolute and total travesty that Parks & Rec was left off the list for Best Comedy Series. It should be winning that category every year. Same for Nick Offerman in Supporing Actor in a Comedy Series.

3 or 4 Modern Family guys and no Nick Offerman continues to be the worst Emmy shame in years.

30 Rock had a great last year, I thought it really finished up well. No problems with any of those noms. But I'm a Jenna liker, I know we have some haters around these parts.

Drama
Game of Thrones, HBO
Jon Hamm, Mad Men, AMC
Claire Danes, Homeland, Showtime
Mandy Patinkin, Homeland
Emilia Clarke, Game Of Thrones

Hamm should win, damn it. Danes continued to be perfect in Homeland. I could have gone Moss, but she better win for Top of the Lake.

Comedy
30 Rock, NBC
Louis CK, Louie, FX
Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation, NBC
Adam Driver, Girls, HBO
Mayim Bialik , The Big Bang Theory, CBS

These were actually pretty easy choices for me. Clear choices.

As much as I want to pick Emilia and Christina for their "assets" Christine has been excellent throughout the run of The Good Wife.

Peter is the obvious choice to me. Although he had less screen time than other seasons.

I have only ever watched one of the shows nominated - The Big Bang Theory. I've never even seen the others. Sad, huh?

The sad part to me is that you have to pay EXTRA to see so many of these shows. If you don't have HBO or Showtime, you miss out on a lot. And now Netflix as well.

Only 10 of the 42 Drama nominations are on broadcast tv, so maybe not surprising. And 7 of those are Good Wife/Downton Abbey.

That's brutal competition. They are all great in those roles.

I actually find the Netflix nominations odd. Not That Spacey and Wright are not deserving but that a series that is strictly view on demand is considered for a Prime Time Emmy.

It's not just the premium channels, It's all paying extra when you've cut the cord.

yup.

In the Drama category, there is nothing on broadcast TV. I've got basic cable, so I miss out on the premium cable stuff. At least I can get the House of Cards on disc via Netflix. That show is excellent.

But most of us have Tivo/DVR. We don't always watch our shows in primetime anymore. That's just an extension of that. Even HBO and the like schedule those shows throughout the day. They aren't strictly prime time either.

right.. But not really just to get their original stuff.. I have a disc plan to mostly get movies, plus some TV shows. I had that before they started doing original shows via streaming.

Downton Abbey is broadcast. But the point is still true.

I watched The Americans via Hulu on the laptop connected via HDMI to the tv. #firstworldproblems

From what I saw of the last daytime Emmy awards, they probably should just discontinue the separate Daytime Emmys altogether, and drop the "prime-time" from the main Emmy award show.

There are just so very few scripted shows left on daytime television. Most of what is on daytime TV these days are panel shows like "The Talk," "The Chew," "The View," etc., courtroom shows, chat shows, and the like. Very few of these shows are really even Emmy-worthy. They're just the best of what's left.

Ron Swanson wouldn't want that stupid award anyway. But the lack of recognition for Parks and Rec is beyond ridiculous. Aziz or Nick Offerman are both deserving of Best Supporting.

I'd be shocked if Robin Wright didn't win for House of Cards.

I was surprised that The Americans got so little love. I wonder if Margo is coming back to the series. She's in a new comedy on CBS or Fox (I forget).

Ron Swanson is glad Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives got a nomination (for Reality Non-Competition Program).

I was surprised Fox's entire Tuesday night lineup - Raising Hope, Ben & Kate, New Girl, and The Mindy Project - got completely shut out (and that includes the Creative Arts categories). Fox's only scripted shows that got nominations were Glee, The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, and Family Guy, and the last three were only in animation or voiceover categories.

Meanwhile, both The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance got nominated in the Reality Competition Show category ahead of both seasons of Survivor that were eligible.

"You get what you pay for"

Some of the best dramas on TV are non-premium cable though. Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Killing, Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy, etc.

Network TV is crap and is beholden to the FCC and advertisers. You just can't get edgy, adult-oriented stuff on free TV. It's all watered down schlock. Protect the children and all that....

Smash on NBC is a prime example - I liked it a little but if it had been on Showtime as originally developed it probably would have been amazing.

About all I watch on network TV anymore is Survivor, Amazing Race, 60 Minutes, the Voice, and sports (and most of that has moved to ESPN or other cable stations like NBC Sports)
