This show seems to have a pretty small following here - I think it's actually gotten better since season 1. I like what they've added to it and it's a good summer show. If it was on in the fall, I probably wouldn't have time for it.

I've been enjoying it as well. It's gotten consistently more watchable. If not for the mediocre first season, I might even recommend it to friends now (as summer watching at least).

I watch, but I just don't know how much I actually like it thanks to the glut of post-apocalyptic dramas that are all mediocre in the past few years, I'm about apocalypsed out, I count:
Falling Skies
Terra Nova
Revolution
Defiance
All with the same basic "mankind tries to survive after the gutting of xxx or yyy" and I'm sure I'm missing another

Those shows are COMPLETELY different!

Falling Skies=Alien invasion
Terra Nova=Environmental catastrophe
Revolution=Science experiment gone wrong
Defiance=Terraforming mishap

You have to give them credit...rather than their usual habit of just blatantly ripping each other off, the networks here have given us an impressive array of apocalyptic scenarios!

I LOL'd on that, and then was reminded of the quote from The Blues Brothers "We got both kinds of music, we got Country and Western"

At 10 episodes per season, can they really be called seasons? I find it harder to get hooked on shows with so few eps.

Ten shows is more than a series (season) in the UK....

Or less (e.g., Doctor Who). They're a lot more flexible in season length. 3-13 seems to be the range...

I watch. It's not great but it's some mindless summer fun.

I uncovered my own thoughts about this show after catching up on a bunch of episodes last weekend. I'm enjoying watching it but I give 0 crap about any of the characters in the show; they could live or die right now and I just won't care. Likely chalk it up to the fact...

Just a FYI,

Looks like the first episode of season 4 is available via magical means.

I don't have Amazon Prime right now but when I did, I watched this show and like it so I am glad it will continue on another season or two. Maybe a well written conclusion at the end of season 4 or season 5 will set it apart from the other post apocalypse shows. I am sure to sign up for Amazon Prime again soon and will catch up.

I didn't like it at all. I was already displeased at the departure of Jessy Schram ("Evil Karen").

Yeah, I will definitely be keeping it on a short leash.

The show has more than enough goodwill built up for me that I can forgive what right now seems to be the misstep that I think some here are responding to:

Well, not really invasion...more like immigration.

But I guess if you're in the House, it's basically the same thing.

Well terraforming is making it earth-like, but Earth was already earth-like. Some invading aliens tried to make it more like their (un-named) home world and screwed up.

According to the Wiki, it's more like visiting aliens' spaceships blew up mysteriously in orbit, releasing terraforming agents into Earth's atmosphere.

I think what JohnS is getting at is that terraforming translates to "earth shaping," or changing an alien planet to be more earth-like. What the aliens were attempting in Defiance might more properly be called xenoforming. They were trying the shape earth to be more like their own world, which probably wasn't exactly earth-like

And what I was getting at was that they weren't trying to do anything. It was an accident.

See, I think they were going to try to do something. They just suffered from premature xeroformation. Perhaps their intentions were benevolent and their plan for immigration/change/peace/coexiste ce was good, and they were just upset by whatever blew up their ships, and is attacking earth now. Common enemy?

(I've only watched a few minutes of the premier, downloaded from amazon)
