Native Charlestonians don't have much of a southern accent. I mean we say y'all and honey and darlin' but we aren't drawly rednecks like other TV shows and movies have made us out to sound.
Old native Charlestonians actually have a "gullah" accent.
My grandmother, who died at 97 had a very thick gullah accent.
