Even though I got Chinese for lunch on Saturday and ate the leftovers (on a plate!) on Sunaday, every time this thread gets bumped, I want Chinese food.

Pavlov must be hanging around here.

Though I mostly go to the places where you get 2 items + rice or chow mein in the styrofoam container, at those & other places, you can still get the TV show kind of containers if you buy individual items.

I am amazed it took so long, but in the past year or two, frozen Chinese food finally comes in containers shaped like that too. They're not really the same, except for the shape and at least one brand folds *vaguely* the same. It's a fairly nice gimmick.

How do you mix in the rice when you eat from those cardboard containers?
I like eating my takeout Chinese food from a bowl not a plate anyway.

I've been catching up on the TV show Scandal. They eat a LOT of Chinese food in that show. In the early episodes, you only saw characters eating out of the containers directly. In some of the later episodes, you see a mix of people eating from the container and other people dishing out from the container onto a plate then eating from there.

Still, no one seems to have rice.

The rice goes into my dog food bowls. I never eat it.

Wow Chinese food without rice that is amazing. I always get steamed and I usually eat more rice than food. Like the spicy garlic sauce just poured over the rice.

No need to get upset. You can eat whatever you like.

I try not to eat the rice, or very little of it, because it is one of the "trigger foods" for my blood sugar. It is easy to avoid it when eating Chinese food because there is such a big variety of choices without rice.

Sushi, on the other hand, can be problematic...(yes, I eat Sashimi, but I LOVE Sushi!!!)

I use my decanters - well, currently only two of them regularly, with the others in the cupboard. As astrohip noted, though, it works for me because I primarily drink just two liquors - bourbon and vodka. So, I can easily tell which is which, as can my guests... and then it's just always easy and ready.

The rest of the liquor varieties are down below the bar, with most of the mixers, wine, glasses, and accoutrements...

I've never eaten out of a chinese food container, and have never used decanters.
