I just watched this on demand and I thought it was fantastic, though I wish I had access to it in HD. Excellent acting, and very suspenseful despite it moving at a snail's pace.
I loved Daniel's summary of his day after he was baptized, when he described his adventures with Goat Man. Everything he said had happened, but the way he described it made him seem completely insane.
I also liked how near the end, he sat at the girl's grave listening to the Walkman and most likely the tape we saw him find in the attic early on.
The prison stuff was also very good, like when they were cleaning out his friend's cell, and there is an overhead shot of Daniel's cell next to the cell of his friend. Also, how they went back and forth between shots of him pacing his bedroom and pacing his cell, showing the similarity of the rooms and how he was treating his bedroom as a cell.
I loved this show! They re-aired all 6 eps of S01 on Sundance, so I recorded them since it had been so long since I watched originally.
Just the other day I finished re-watching S01. Haven't watched S02-E01 yet, but looking forward to it.
Just this Feb we got an HD version of Sundance so, on one hand, I wondered if they had recorded it only in SD but OTOH I was able to re-record it last week on the new HD channel and it was in the normal widescreen HD format - well, that was a lot of words that said nothing. *hanging head*
The season opener had the main character in an induced coma. It's a little hard to create any sort of action around that scenario. I think there's going to be a lot of soul searching taking place in this series. If this bores you then perhaps this isn't the show for you.
Season one was fantastic. But I am often disappointed by the second season of a show that started off great, so you maybe right that the rest of the series may not be for me. At least he's out of the coma now, so I'll be able to find out.
The Bengals and Tivo, life should have a few obsessions.
