Graceland "Graceland" S1 E1

New USA show. Watched it last night looking for Serinda Swan ( Breakout Kings) but she wasn't listed. Depending on what site you visit, she is a series regular and credited in every episode, or she is recurring and on 3 episodes.

Good summer show.

I too was rather unimpressed. I'll give it another chance, but so far, not so good.

This.

I figured it was typical USA network summer lite TV. But several reviewers were majorly happy with it, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Hard to believe they watched what I watched.

You might as well change this to a Season Thread, cause there is no way you need eps threads for this show.

I read somewhere else that Graceland was described as being more like Romper Room than a serious show about law enforcement professionals. A bit harsh, but in general, that's kind of the way I saw it. Pilots are notorious for sometimes being poor examples of a series, so as I said, I'll give it a second chance.

It got better towards the end. I don't like the main premise revealed at the end though.

I wasn't terribly moved one way or the other, but given the tendency of pilots not to be fully-formed and this being summer, I'll give it at least another week.

I thought it was ok so I'll give it a couple more episodes.
It's very different, but it reminded me a lot of Suits.

Agree. It was almost enough to make me kill the SP, except...

To me the show was trying too hard to be like the other "edgy" crime shows, like Breaking Bad, The Wire and that ilk. Since I'm not a fan of those shows, I watched through the end (admittedly, I fell asleep in the middle), and I deleted the SP.

And on the reveal at the end, I saw that coming a mile away. And it's been done to death.

What other shows has that scenario been used on? It seems familiar, but I can't think of one right off hand.

Where someone was told to spy on their boss?

The one where it was the core of the show was that Dirty Dancing guy cop show, that ended because the actor died.

Since this is an episode thread it's ok to discuss the reveal where Mike is asked by FBI boss to report on the "Rescue Me" dude, who's appearently in charge of the house. Basically it's been done. Off the top of my head, I can't think of specifics, but I think shows like 24 has had characters that reported to someone higher about the bosses, and I'm sure others.

I thought it was obvious that Mike was there because of Briggs when Briggs was snooping through Mike's papers that read "Emergency Placement: Graceland" with Briggs listed as the training agent. We already knew that Mike expected to be in DC but was reassigned at the last minute, so there was no reason to tell us again unless it was about the person looking at the papers.

I'm not sure about this show.

Would undercover agents really spend that much time in a police station walking around with FBI jackets?

I guess I expected them to be deep undercover - living an entire assumed identity undercover. But it seems like they assume different covers based on the case, like what they do on Burn Notice. Which makes it less interesting to me. Why would they need to live in a fancy beach house with each other if they aren't maintaining a prolonged cover? It just seems dumb.

The two leads are handsome and charismatic. I might give it one more episode.

Totally agree. The whole concept of being undercover, yet hanging around at bars, at the beach, different identities made up on the spot... ridiculous. And now they're going deep under with some serious drug lords. Beyond preposterous.

But it's mildly entertaining, so I keep watching. I'm finding my standards are embarrassingly low this summer. I finally had to kill Sinbad this weekend. Perhaps the worst acting of any regular series I've watched in a while. But why did it take me 4 or 5 episodes?

I just watched the Graceland pilot.

Nobody mentioned that they're trying too hard to go for the "he/she's so dreamy" audience.

Nice to see that Dutch is getting more work from USA. They must have him under contract.

The droopy eyelid "Charlie" girl kinda turned me off and turned me on. You just know she'll look pretty bad as she ages, where she won't need the mascara to look burned out. She looks a bit like "Butterface Dottie" from Shameless.

In other words, nobody mentioned that this is 21st-century American television?
