Doctor Who: The Bells of Saint John Prequel

Kind of predictable but still nice.

Very nice performance by Matt Smith. I rather like him when he's allowed these quieter, personal moments.

That was nice but I'm pretty tired of the Doctor being a sad man. I've been watching some classic Doctor Whos. Those Doctors were a lot of things but lonely wasn't one of them.

After more than 700 years and losing many close friends I think I might be lonely too. It's not surprising. Each Doctor has a different personality trait.

I'm on season 3 of Doctor Who Classic with William Hartnell as the first Doctor. He's seems quite sad and lonely. He even almost refused to let a couple of companions leave since he didn't want to be alone.

Agree. The Doctor was always potentially sad because he was never alone. He left Gallifrey for adventure and people.

When his granddaughter left, he refused to leave the tardis for a while.

Many times when the doctor had to say goodbye to companions, he couldn't. He abandoned them rather than say goodbye.

The sadness fits.

I hadn't seen it before, but is it really new? The copyright at the end is still dated 2012, and would seem like it should be viewed before "The Snowmen."

The two places I saw it referenced (bleedingcool and aintitcoolnews) both referred to it as "new", but it appeared old to me as well. Obviously the subject matter was older than Snowmen. I get the impression it may have been just released to iTunes/Amazon, so perhaps it is more appropriately labeled "newly released".

In any event, no one I've shown it to had seen it before.

No, you don't need to watch anything.

It's not a continuation of the Snowmen per se but it's better to have seen the Snowmen prior to tonight's episode. Seeing Asylum of the Dalek's, which was the first episode of this season, would be helpful as well.
