Question How much for a Series 3?

I'm thinking of trying to pick up an older Series 3 used from Craigslist (or even ebay) in order to put it in a bedroom that isn't heavily used.

I'm seeing some on Craigslist, but what do you think is a fair price for a used Series 3 (OLED) or TiVo HD (160GB model)?

I am currently selling a Tivo HD with lifetime for $300 plus shipping. It appears the going rate on ebay is about $250-350 for a Tivo HD with lifetime. I think you can get unsubbed ones for $25-50.

If you're going for OTA, then the OLED S3 is fine. If you're going to use it for cable, the Tivo HD is preferred since you only need one cable card. You need TWO for the OLED S3, REGARDLESS of whether it's an S card or an M card. *ESPECIALLY* for a non-heavily-used room/Tivo, that's a big 'waste of money' if you have to pay for an extra card.

Yea, I actually have another Series 3 OLED TiVo so am well aware that they require TWO cable cards regardless if they are S-cards or M-cards. Normally I would agree that it probably makes more sense to get a TiVo HD and get just one M-card for its dual tuners. However, Comcast recently has messed up my billing for cable cards.

They are charging me $1.50 for each of my current 3 TiVo cable cards. Then are giving me a $2.50 "equipment credit" for EACH of these cable cards. A total credit of $7.50 for 3 cable cards that basically cost $4.50. Therefore, I am technically making $3 per month to have these cable cards. I know odd, but that is Comcast's FUBAR billing for you
