I could swear I've always had to add a minute to Grimm…but I'll check when I get home, maybe I'm misremembering.

This is not an episode thread, so spoilers should be tagged.

Doesn't the episode name in the thread title automatically make it an episode thread?

Strictly speaking, it should have a date too:

Quote:
When starting a discussion about a specific show episode, please put the air date and name of the program (and title if you know it) in the subject line. (ie: Lost, “Man of Science, Man of Faith,” 11/16.)
But with the program and episode name, I think you would be silly to not be prepared for it to be a show episode, unless the title said "no spoilers" or something.

While technically not following the rules of naming, it's an episode thread for sure, the OP is asking about an item that happened specifically in the episode and effectively would require a spoiler if it were not an episode thread... at least in my book.

Since it is not officially an episode thread, it does indeed require spoiler tags.

Also, the OP specifically stated that he did not intend it to be an episode thread.

Rather than spending further time debating whether this is an episode thread, I just started one here:

I was wrong, I didn't have padding for Grimm.. Darn, guess I'll check if the very ending is useful online, or record the On Demand to my other recorder (since they won't let me FF) and then just watch the very ending later.

Natural Born Wesen cut off

It happened again. The 3/15 episode of Grimm "Natural Born Wesen" was cut off one minute before the ending on NBC's West Coast affiliate KNTV. The following program, Rock Center, began at 10pm and started by showing the last minute of Grimm but ended at its scheduled time of 11pm with no cutoff.

I now consider this a pattern and will add one minute of padding for all future new episodes of Grimm.

so the thread title is "What Happened"
and the OP specifically says
"If anyone watched, could you do my wife a favor and let us know what happened? "

and you think we should put spoilier tags ?

if anybody comes to a thread named "What Happened" then they should expect to see spoilers

and if they misread the title and decided to read the thread anyway then they should probably figure out from OP's question that they shouldn't read any further

so

no

spoiler tags are required when posting, but having brain is required when deciding to read

Same here. Ended with
Spoiler:
Juliet getting a strange phone call and her asking "who is this?".
I hope someone makes an episode thread so I can find out.

BIH, NBC Bastages.

Spoiler:

After she asks "Who is this?", the droning music continues to build.

The sparks zip around her bed. She looks over the edge of the bed and find that the bed is now suspended in the same type of dark pit as shown earlier in the episode.

She then retreats back to the center of the bed and gathers the blankets around herself.

A highly distorted voice then says in the background:

"I just want you to know the truth. I just want you to know the truth."

I just padded my Grimm SP, which is the first time I can remember having to do that for a regular network show.

I also had this issue with Grimm - if you want to watch it is available on Hulu after it starts you can jump to the end to see the last min or so that was cut off.

The voice became less distored and, to my ear, sounded quite a bit like Nick by the end.

I think those gaping pits are visual representations of the holes in her memory and she's starting to remember; this time she's starting to remember the conversation where Nick told her about the Grimms and Wessen

Yes, that is exactly what I think is happening. The fact that

Spoiler:
she could walk over the pit and it self healed would represent the memories getting restored.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but this has been happening on many shows for a very long time. That's a major reason I got a Premiere 4.. so I could pad as many shows as possible.

AFAIK, NBC was the one who started this, at least for the broadcast networks.. (with 'er' in the mid-late 90s.. started a minute or more early, and the schedule didn't show it). All shows on various networks (History, Discovery, E!) have to be padded one minute late, or you miss the very ending, which goes a small fraction of a minute over the hour.

Wow, I suspect you're either lucky, or don't watch much regular network TV… esp NBC on Thursdays.

No, I watch tons of network TV. But (at least in this market) the shows generally start and stop like a metronome. Until Grimm the past couple of weeks.

There have been times in the past when people have complained about shows getting cut off and I haven't had the same problem. I suspect my local network affiliates are just really good at keeping things exactly on schedule.

But this seems to be a much wider problem.

I am well aware of this. I have to pad the beginning of The Simpsons, and the end of Modern Family.
But Grimm has not needed padding until now.
You have to agree that this sort of thing is irritating when it happens where it didn't happen before, right?

That explanation makes a lot of sense.

Yes, I definitely agree, that's why I default to having padding until I "prove" it doesn't need it or I have a conflict.. though it can start needing padding again like in this case.

Wow, just watched the VERY ending on nbc.com (hey, they only made me "watch" (mute computer) two sets of commercials, not one for every 'break' I try to skip like some sites), and wow, I did miss an important bit.. I had thought it ended with the main dude (I'm bad with names) on the floor.

The main character--and like I said, I don't really watch the show so I have no idea what anyone's name is--had just finished drinking some potion and writhing on the floor, then the "action" flipped back to Europe, and the Keep or Delete box popped up.

I Googled for some recaps, but the one I found ended at the same point as the TiVo, with what's-his-name collapsed on the floor. If anyone watched, could you do my wife a favor and let us know what happened? Thanks!
This happen on my cable DVR also, so it was not the TiVo. I now pad Grimm. It starting to reach the point where everything need to be padded.
