Justified - The Hachet Tour - 03/05/13

Okay, so Ive complained that this season hasn't been up to par, but last week picked up a lot. And the big reveal of Drew Thompson last night was definitely a surprise worth waiting for..

Yup. I thought the hints about the sheriff being drew were a misdirection but not so. Loved the episode. Thought crazy Tim the sniper was gonna put mad dog Colt down. Art's rants were priceless. Love the character.

Not as good as last week but a solid episode. Should be a fun final 4.

Poor Art.

Our lives would be so much sadder if his was a little happier.

Anyone think Tim and the preacher's "sister" will get together?

I LOVED Barney Fife and the shootout when he pulled out the automatic weapon from his trunk...

And how he was the one who had all the information needed to figure out who Drew was, but didn't have a clue.

Now that's how you foley gun handling during the "how did you shoot Ellen May?" scene. No rattling or clicking when you handle the gun. Click only when he pulls the trigger and the hammer falls, and I'm impressed they even foleyed in the trigger reset click.

Poor Boyd--he can't trust Johnny, he can't trust Colt, Shelby isn't his any more--all he has left is Eva.

Funny Raylan's version of his last talk with Arlo.

The Feds want Drew because he can finger Theo Tonin for murder. Theo Tonin wants to kill Drew before the Feds get their hands on him.

Law wants him as a witness to Dr Detroit committing murder

And Dr Detroit wants to kill Drew for stealing from him and costing him an eye

That was Hunter Mosely (old Sheriff). Drew is Shelby (new Sheriff).

Lots of good facial expressions on Hunter this episode. From the "yeah, right" look during the "last conversation" to the "you've got to be kidding me!" look when Raylan pushed his chair over in Duffey's motor coach.

That and Goggin's face when his lightbulb went off at Shelby's house.

Is it me, or did Raylan break character during the Constable shootout? That was more a Olyphant voice than a Givens voice.

Tell me about it. I misspelled Sheriff twice in one sentence.

It helps me to remember that the word is derived from "Shire Reeve."

I'm not sure why on Earth it helps me, but it does.

Clearly, it's because it's easy to know that all you have to do is move the last 'e' after the 'sh,' replace the original first 'e' with the moved 'i,' throw out the first letter of the second word, and ex-change the back-to-back 'e's' with their close cousins, the 'f.' After that, all you gotta do is truncate the ending. Easy-peasy!

They did pretty much cheat.

All of a sudden Shelby knows the clans going back to forever. We haven't had a clue of that up until now.

We still don't know why Arlo killed the trustee, or kept the bag.

And Hunter killed Arlo to keep him quiet, when Arlo had no intention of ever taking?

Hey, Drew, nothing like hiding out by running for public office.

And Drew missed his wife by a few hours at the US Marshalls office.

Yeah, the whole Drew thing seems weird to me. But they're not done yet, and they've earned a lot of good will, so I'm willing to assume they're more clever than I am. For now.

Drew has to bite it by the end of the season. There is no way out.

Elly Mae, too.

Colt for sure.

Johnny Crowder probably.

While I agree with your forecast there's an alternative. Drew & EM could escape into hiding and a long story arc into next season could be the US Marshals, whose job is hunting fugitives keep looking for them.

Colt is absolutely toast. Question is by whom, Boyd, Johnny, Tim the sniper...?

I say let Tim have him. But Boyd has a tendency of cleaning up his own internal mess.

I hope not, that pairing doesn't do much for the show.

Was that a new car for Bob, loved how he slapped lights on that old junker and that after he and the two Clover Hill guys go Rambo on each other no one gets in trouble.

And nobody gets hit.

This show, unlike most, realizes that most people aren't Raylan Givens.

We've seen the car before. He mentioned how he paid for all his gear himself.

In his weekly episode interview with ew.com, showrunner Graham Yost talks about how they decided that Shelby should be Drew, why they revealed him now, and what the rest of the season holds. He touches on a number of things being discussed here, so the link may be of interest.

There are mild spoilers in here, though, so do not read if you want to know absolutely nothing.
