Time vs Quality

New TiVo user trying to figure out the 'best' quality to record at with most recording time capacity. Any guidelines or recommendations on when to use Best, High, Medium or Basic? I've already chewed up 150 gb of my 500 gb in less than two weeks recording almost everything at Best. Used to constantly push the limit on my 120 gb Philips.

For digital recordings it doesn't matter, there's no quality setting. What cable system are you on? Are you recording HD or SD? HD is all digital.

To just elaborate a little on slowbiscuit's responce. The quality settings are only used for recordings of Analog channels. For digital channels the digital stream is recorded as is (no conversion) so there are no quality settings. Also for reference all HD channels are all digital your SD channels can be either analog or digital, just depends on your cable company.

For under $100, and some time, there are instructions in the upgrade forum for upgrading the hard drive to 2TB, which is about 3000 hours of SD recording time.
