Vanishing act, my PC under Now Playing

I am a long time user of Tivo Desktop, in fact I paid for Tivo Desktop Plus when it first came out.

I have recently upgraded to a Premiere XL4, quite often when I transfer a movie to my Tivo Shared folder when I go to Now Playing on the Tivo, my PC is no longer on the list.

Usually if I log off of Windows 7, and log back in the PC reappears under Now Playing and I can then transfer the show or movie to the Tivo. My question is, is there a quicker way to "refresh" the Now Playing list to get the PC to reappear? Leaving the Now Playing list and go back to it does nothing, I believe rebooting my Tivo or resetting my router also works. I was just wondering if there was a quick way to do this, from Windows or the Tivo?

Have you tried exiting the Tivo server under Tivo Server Properties and then restarting it (right-clicking on the icon in the system tray and selecting Restart Tivo Server?

This happens to me sometimes too. I usually just give it a little time (like 5 minutes max) and browse the other Premiere from the one missing the PC then come back to the browse again and it shows up. Other things that have worked more quickly were what Scott mentioned and also opening the Tivo Desktop interface and clicking the "Pick Recordings to Transfer" button. Its a weird issue because sometimes one Premiere will see it and the other doesn't. I don't think I've ever seen both Premiere's not be able to see the PC yet they connect to the same switch. I think barring any networking issues its just general bugginess in either Tivo Desktop or the Tivo software itself.

Giving everything on your network that doesn't travel a fixed IP address won't hurt and might help, but even though I use TiVo Desktop I'm not blind to the fact that it's buggy and if one is going to continue to use it one has to figure ways around the bugs.
