Expander and failing disk upgrade, how?

I am about to upgrade my Tivo to a 1.5TB hard drive. I need to do it because my Tivo drive (inside the box) is failing. Yes, I tested the HD. The Tivo als has a 1/2TB expander.

I want to save the shows. I know if I have one drive I could (reimage) backup and restore the information on the new drive. Is it possible to do with a 2 drive system?? If Yes, how?

you'll have to push them to a computer (the shows that will allow that)...then pull them back once the new drive is setup.

Once you divorce the external from the TiVo, whatever programming you had after adding the extender will be gone.

Unfortunately I don't know how it's done.

When I bought a 2TB upgrade from DVR_Dude(ebay) that was one of the services he offered. So I know that it can be done. I didn't want the shows bad enough to incur the added $$$ and turn around time.
