Channel changing S2-DCT2244

I have a Tivo Series-2 hooked up to a Motorola DCT2244 via serial cable, this has worked flawlessly for three years up until a month or so ago. The tivo commands the correct channel and the 2244 box changes there, then immediately shifts a channel up/down.

I live in Seattle with Comcast service.

Does it do it every single time? Start simple and try a restart.

Every time I've seen this come up in the last few years the only solution was to switch to IR. It's caused by a firmware update on the Moto box.
