Has anyone had any experience, good or bad, with activating a 3rd party purchase for DirecTV TiVo?

I have had no problem as I had to replace a few of my directivos with spares that I had. The only exception was some of the older directivos can no longer be activated because not having a RID number. Just have to pay for a new card.
