Breaking Bad Season 5 to be broken up

Damn you AMC!!!!

They are going to split it into 8 and 8 in the summers of 2012 and 2013

I am not sure my heart can handle that much suspense with a break in-between

Please tell me you already knew this. It's been since day one of them saying it was the final season that more likely would be split with the longer than normal season order. But yes, it sucks.. but I'll take what I can get. I don't want it to end ever.

I was expecting maybe a February return but not 10 months.

Yes, it's been pretty obvious for a while that the final 16 eps would be two seasons of 8. In fact, I heard Cranston on a podcast a couple months ago talking about how they were planning to wrap production in March 2013. Since S5 starts in July 2012, that made it pretty obvious that they weren't going to show all 16 eps in 2012.

Yeah I didn't figure we'd get anything better. It's basically 2 shortened seasons.

I just wish AMC would realize how great this show is and add five episodes to each season to make them two real seasons.

This!
I think the problem is that they already feel they added on episodes to season 5 because the show is so great. They want to go out on top and as frustrating as that is for me, I get it and I'd rather that happen then they fall apart like Dexter.

True, and if knowing the ending date allows Vince Gilligan to plan a suspenseful, coherent story all the way to the end, then I'm perfectly happy with 16 final episodes.

I'm ok with this. I love that they planned the ending and will go out on top.

This is one of the few shows on TV that NEVER has a bad episode. It will be 16 fantastic episodes. What's not to love?

I'm okay with two seasons of 8. But it is much too long to wait from summer to summer.

Especially when I got into the show late and consumed 3.5 seasons in a couple of weeks.

And I really prefer short seasons. Makes for tighter writing.

Anybody know whether this will be available for purchase from Amazon on Demand shortly after each season airs? It didn't used to matter but now I've cut back on cable.

I think it's available AS it airs. Each episode is added shortly after its broadcast date.

The 13 episode season 4 is available for $31 HD, or $2.99 an episode. Just as a data point.

Wait, so have they already filmed all 16 episodes, and are just delaying the showing of the last 8, or are they still in production on some of the later episodes?

Still in production. From what I read not only are they cutting them in to 8 and 8 but they are taking a little break between filming the 8 and 8.

See above post from DevDogAZ. Production doesn't wrap until March next year...

New website to check out...
http://wevegotworktodo.com/bg/

As we approach the new season of "Breaking Bad," to celebrate and honor a show truly kept alive by its fan community, 16 of the top artists and graphic designers have been commissioned to create screenprints depicting some of the series' most memorable scenes, characters and shocking moments. These screenprints are hand-pulled, each its own individual work of art, in an edition of just 300, with only 200 available to the public through this project.
