Cold open was very funny. Best in a while. The 100th DS was also great: I need to go back and watch a few times as I'm sure I missed a lot. Natalie Portman was, as always, fantastic. The Long Drive was pretty good: I was really impressed that, for as long as it was, it stayed funny throughout. Really you have to give some props to Jason Sudekis for being able to pretty much singlehandedly carry that sketch all the way. Nasaflu was funny, and a good premise. Almost Pizza was funny but a rerun.

Will Ferrell's monologue was lame. I also thought Weekend Update was, well, weak this week . The rest was pretty average.

Still, enough good stuff to call it "better than average" overall in my book.

I think Will Forte's Greg Stink is pretty funny in that sketch too, they're a pretty great combo.

The Culps was a disappointment. They weren't hitting on all cylinders. There was a certain magical timing between them when they were doing that sketch regularly. They failed to re-capture that magic here.

The highlights were "Imaginary Friend" and the Digital Short.

And it's interesting that while "Long Drive" was pretty funny, Will Ferrell's contribution to it was not the funniest part. Sudekis and Forte are awesome in those.

Actually when they did the sketch I was hoping Ferrell would have done Ron Burgundy.

When I saw the title card for it I assumed he'd be doing one of the women (which was revealed not to be true within a few seconds, of course).

Cold open ("Imaginary Friend") was the highlight for me. After that, it was all downhill. I was hoping for some reference by Ferrell to Kurt Busch's driving the Ricky Bobby car at Daytona last week, but nope.

Was the Almost Pizza a literal rerun? I don't remember that ever happening w/o any tweaks.

Yes. I don't recall when it first ran, but it was in the post-monologue slot.

Rerunning something like that in a post-12:30 slot usually means that the show was running short and they needed to kill a few minutes.

I don't know how far back it goes, but they've been recycling fake commercials for at least years.

If they ever get Simon Helberg to host, he would have to do Get In The Cage. He does an amazing Nic Cage impression.

I liked the cold open and Nasaflu. ESPN Classic was funny, as usual, but had nothing to do with the host. The SNL Digital Short was an instant classic, but again that had nothing to do with the host. Other than that, just another blah episode.
