Yeah. I would say she's maybe Conservative (?) Which I want to say is the middle, a little modest but not Orthodox.

She really is a pretty woman. I don't think they even did her justice on What Not To Wear.

Oh no, she's WAY into "orthodox" territory. Have you read her blog?

not just passing out, I was thinking of people possibly dying..

I would have thought they'd at least have them sit upside down and breathe a few times.. (With the stupid people suing over Beavis & Butthead's "fire fire fire", this seems almost as sue-worthy, as in I mean unworthy.)

When the guy did it on Letterman, I'm pretty sure he actually hung upside down on a swing and breathed heavily for a while to get it all out.

Some. Remember, I'm not the most educated person on the Jewish faith.

Maybe there's a level beyond Orthodox? Hasidim?

(Completely off-topic-I gave the soil to my niece today. They were DELIGHTED-I forgot to tell them Delaware was coming too. )

from the net:

In North America there are 4: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist.
In the UK there are 4: Orthodox, Masorti, Reform, and Liberal/Progressive.
In Ireland there are 2: Orthodox and Progressive.
In Israel there is 1: Orthodox (although other denominiations are now starting to gain acceptance1).

There are then several varieties of Orthodox. Hasidism is a Polish version, brought to the US by Polish immigrants.

Do Orthodox women generally cover their hair? I actually wondered if she was wearing a wig, but after the What Not To Wear show, it was clear she wasn't.

It's all interesting to me.

She's not really that Orthodox. She's much more New Age Hollywood Nut who still breastfeeds her 3 year old son, didn't vaccinate her children, and thinks that the whole family should sleep in one bed together, well into childhood.

Indeed, not vaccinating is crazy.

Family sleeping together is certainly not my cup of tea, but I don't see any problem with it. My 5 year old still crawls in if a thunderstorm wakes her up.

But do you really consider breastfeeding a 3 year old so crazy? Can you point to an authority to back that up? We talked about with our pediatrician and read a good bit about it. Pretty much everything we heard or read said it was fine and normal. If anything they suggested that the modern notions that breastfeeding was wrong (thankfully changed since my parents generation) or should be stopped so soon were unsupported by the science on the issue...

I have reasons for not liking co-sleeping, particularly past a certain age. I don't agree with her on that or the breastfeeding thing. But some of the rest of it I find interesting.
