Castle "Headhunters" (4/16/2012, Spoilers)

Ok, this was pure concentrated awesome. Hey ABC - get Adam Baldwin a spinoff series, stat. Adam was amazing by himself, but the chemistry between Adam and Nathan was perfect.

There were three likely shout-outs that I could find in this episode:
- The doll and dinosaur at the beginning went back to Wash's dinosaurs that he had at the helm of Serenity.
- The brown coat that Castle gave to Slaughter (obviously)
- "I like to have my options open." (Jayne's line from the beginning of Serenity - "I just get excitable as to choice- like to have my options open.")

mmmmkay...

Animal Mother joins the NYPD? pffffft. Guess strapping him with a M60 was considered a bit too much though...

It's interesting that Jayne makes a much better pirate than cop...

Really? I wasn't that excited about the whole thing. Kind of predictable "Maddog" character. Slaughter? Kind of obvious, over-the-top choice for his character's name.

I should say my opinion is colored by the fact I'm not a big fan of stunt casting at all. It just feels forced and out of place on that show.

Yeah on both counts, but it was still so much fun that I didn't care.

Wasnt one of the better ones. It has been interesting to see the guy who played Worf on Star Trek playing Becketts shrink.

He's been on a few episodes but I hadn't seen him lately until now.

They easily could have played it up a bit more---Baldwin could have said something like "I'm not usually a brown coat kind of guy, but..."

No need to beat the joke to death. Those who the joke was intended for got it, I'm certain.

I can't believe they didn't make a "I'll be in my bunk" joke... (I expected it after he was making comments about the main chick on the show)

Tangent: We know that Missing is in the same universe as Castle, because on a previous episode of Missing, there was something to the effect of:

The best espionage thriller I have ever read.
Richard Castle

on someone's book jacket. Very cool! I have no idea if the shows have behind the scenes shared writers/directors, but I think it's cool anyway.

I keep waiting for him to send her flying across the room with a backhand slap and then scream, "YOU BRING DISHONOR TO YOUR FAMILY WITH YOUR WEAKNESS!!!"
