N Y C 22 - 4/15 ** Spoilers **

Hi ALL,

Not a bad show. Not great, but not bad.

At the very end the older rookie sees the guy who was bald and had a clover tattoo who was referred to at the rookies first roll call. But the guy did nothing. Did he recognize him from something else or was he just scared?

Gerry

After getting yelled at for their bad handling of the domestic disturbance he might wisely have decided not to start things with the big guy in close confines. The size of the guy and the fact he'd just stomped someone to death, the rookie would have to just pull the trigger immediately if he wanted to be sure he'd come out OK. The right move would be to step outside and call it in, maybe keeping an eye on the guy discretely.

It was an OK first episode. Had the usual out of place conversations when the characters were required to spit out enough of their life stories. They've got the usual TV required mix of ages, races, backgrounds.

LeeLee Sobieski has some amazingly long legs, and that's with cop shoes, not heels. When they're all walking around in the same dark blue uniform it was hard not to notice.

Except that they're (almost) all interesting backgrounds.

Too much so---Army MP? Ex-reporter? Ex-pro basketball player? From a family of criminals? Really?

Was anyone else waiting the entire episode for the traditional 'killing of the biggest/most expensive star' scene?

I'm totally glad they actually had Adam Goldberg be an "older guy". I was actually expecting them to somehow try to make us believe he was the same age as the others.. (Though I've seen him in things since the early 90s.. at least looking at his credits.)

Though there was also something else interesting about this show. I don't know if it was really in New York? Was it? If so, were they in different places than other shows, or what? Basically, it seemed way different than every other NY cop show I've seen (NYPD Blue and a zillion others).

Yeah, but that one seems realistic. I would bet that every rookie class from the academy has at least one graduate who comes from a family of cops. The other backstories seem much more unlikely---and putting them all together? Ridiculous.

I missed the pilot for this. Is it worth downloading?

Wow, another CBS police procedural. Who would have thunk it?

Depends on whether you mean downloading from somewhere you have to pay for it.

It's not a procedural (or at least the pilot wasn't).

From TV by the Numbers:

As CBS' late season drama replacements typically do, NYC 22 arrived with a resounding ratings flop on Sunday night. It is certain to be canceled.

Just a heads up, my TiVo says the next two episodes are episodes "107" and "110", so CBS may be airing this show out of order just like they did with "Chaos" last year.

Interesting---The Futon Critic seems to believe that the episodes are airing in order...
