a way to record DVD to Tivo?

I had a Tivo and I was able to record DVD's to it. Then I bought a newer version of Tivo and cannot figure out how to record the movies to it. Please help.

There has never been a way to seamlessly rip DVD's to your TiVo.

You can take the red/white/yellow composite outputs from the DVD player and run them into the same color inputs on the Tivo. You would have to re-run Guided Setup first to tell the Tivo to look to it's R/W/Y inputs for the signal. The other caveat is that if the DVD is copywrite protected you will not be able to transfer the recording to your PC or to another Tivo. I have used this method to copy some old VHS tapes to a Tivo.

Not if it is a Series 3 or later. There are no a/v inputs.

Right you are, I do this with an S2. Just one more reason to keep the old box around.

Not sure I understand. Do you want to rip DVD's and move them to the TiVo?

I assume hw was doing it as lillevig described in post #4 but can't with a newer TiVo. As to why - I guess he was renting or borrowing DVDs and is computer illiterate. Either that, or he is a troll.
