Comcast DTA IR Code (Thomson DCI1011COM)

I have a Series 2 DT Tivo and I need to use the IR blaster that came with the Tivo to control the DTA that Comcast has forced on me. The DTA is a Thomson DCI1011COM (not the Pace DC50X DTA, which seems to be more common based on my message board research). Does anyone have the 5-digit IR code to control this? I have tried the 10104 code that I found on other message boards to control the Pace DTA, but it doesn't work with the Thomson DTA.

Also, I have confirmed that the DTA is functioning properly because I can control it with the remote that come with it. I have also tried adjusting and repositioning the IR blasters attached to the DTA several times, but this has not worked either, so I fairly certain it is a problem with the IR code.

Thanks!

I too have a problem with the DC 1011: wanted lirc conf file

Hi , I too just got my Thomson DTA DCI1011COM or is it DC 1011 COM today in the mail.
I tried the PACE lird.conf , but it does not control the DTA as you indicated.
So anyone have any luck with the correct conf file codes to control this DTA box?

I am guessing that Comcast is using this box where they have SA Head-ends (rather than Motorola). Have you tried any of the SA Explorer codes to see if they work?

WIll try this , but could you elaborate

I am guessing SA is scientific Atlanta..some sort of remote standard?
Very new to lirc and remote control trouble shooting.
How do I go about checking if the SA stuff will control my box?

When you run Guided Setup you are given the ability to select your cablebox. Are there any SA (or Cisco) boxes in the list?

The lirc code isn't useful to me; anyone have the original poster's answer? My Comcast (Thomson 1011) doesn't seem to be controllable. I'm using with a Pioneer.

I don't know about dual tuners, but I have a Series 2 ST and got it working with that Thomson DTA yesterday. I didn't have to enter any codes though. It worked with the guided/test setup. I'm also using the magic IR cable that is often mentioned in these threads.

Some discussion here:
http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=433335

Where there are some codes and comments about this Thomson box.

OKAY! I got it to work. I have spent COUNTLESS hours trying to get my tivo to work with this silly DTA box from Comcast. EASY PEASY!
I was having the same "missing a digit" problem. When I wanted channel 33 it would go to channel 3. (do you know how much Home shoping my DVR recorded in twenty four hours... )

I don't have dual tuning, but I don't care. This is a second DVR in my house to record Oprah and the news.

Here's how I got it to work.

I mounted the DTA box on the top of my TV.
I placed the Purple (end of cord) TV IR Blasters on TOP of the DTA Box on the far end AWAY from the green light. I then placed the IR EXTENDER on the tv frame under the cable box and directly under where the Purple extenders were.

It worked! I have had every channel change as it's suppose to be. No more missed digits (as of right now)

It seems to me, it's a distance to IR thing. YOu need to have it exact. if it's off just a little, it doesn't work.

EUREKA! I have spent WAY too much time on this. Stupid Comcast ...

Just so you all know- I have it set up as a Comcast Digital Adapter in Tivo. It IS a Thomson Box, but i left it as a CDA.

Attached find a few photos (not the best.. from my phone) Not the prettiest set up... but it works for me.

I hope this helps save someone else a LOT of aggravation. Comcast is the devil. (Just my opinion)

Thomson DTA

CAn you confirm your TIVO channel set up settings?

3 digit change? Is Thomson the selected manufacture?
This has been challenging.
Thanks

JK-

Your questions are less than clear in meaning. Who are you addressing them to? Also, in complete sentences, what is it you're looking to know?

For those of us who have TiVo Series 2, TiVo sent out an email saying that we need to use a cable box not the DTA however they did not include the set-up schematics. This has been so frustrating and TiVo knows we need their help. Does any body know? If you do please post the answer for the DTA codes, if we can use them.

Help!

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to use a DTA with a series 2.

GGray's hard wired control cable was meant for use with a Series 2 and a DTA and people have been raving about how well it works.

(See this thread- http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=430994)

It also works with Series 1 machines.

Please explain what TiVo thinks is the problem with using a DTA with a Series 2, since too many people have done so and have no complaints.

Could you possibly be talking about DUAL TUNER Series 2 machines?

As a side point, TiVo wouldn't need to include any "schematics", since using a cable box with a TiVo is a pretty ordinary thing which I'm sure your TiVo instructions cover.

EDIT:

Got this from TiVo Jerry several months ago regarding controlling the Thomson version of the DTA. (May apply to the Pace version as well.)

I have to throw in here, tho', that I use my IR blaster without using the DTA's extension sensor (which Jerry suggests), and it's doing fine. It IS a little dark there, behind the TV unit (which is where both are) so maybe that makes a difference?

They problem realize that the DTA don't have a good IR receiver on it.

To control the Thomas DTA box it's all about distance for the IR cables and the DTA box. Just play and you'll get it.

Tivo code 10104-B DC50X

hey!!
Rumor has it that Tivo code 10104-B can be used on these new Digital Transport Adapters that Comcast is now giving out. Does anyone have one of the Pace DC50X boxes working on a ReplayTV yet?

As mentioned above, TiVoJerry said "IR code 10104 should work".

Why do you ask about ReplayTV? This is s TiVo forum.

Serial control for Thomson TDA

Does anyone know whether the serial control cable from TIVO can control channel changing on the Thomson DTA from Comcast?
The Thomson DTA has a serial port, but is it active?

I find it difficult to believe that distance is so essential.
My Mom has the same Thomson DTA and when I set it up I just attached the IR emitter without even thinking of proper distance and it worked just fine. A few weeks later I had to check something for her and I found that the IR emitter had completely fallen off but was still sort of aimed toward the IR receiver and there had been no missed channel changes. I reattached it and again a couple of weeks later I checked it and it had fallen off again, but still no missed channel changes. I randomly stuck it on again and wrapped a couple of rubber bands around it. Works just fine.
My own Thomson DTA is controlled by an IR emitter that attaches directly to the surface of the eye.

Granted, I'm just one guy, but with two DTA's and zero problems...

Sorry. I was mistaken. The Thomson DFA does not have a serial port. I must have seen it on the Motorola cable box and forgot.

I have been able to get the IR control to work, picking Comcast DTA as the brand, but it is not completely reliable. It tends to drop "3"s and to make other mistakes. I shall try to tune it further.

i have two new Comcast DTA adapters, identical, and identical to the model in this thread. One worked flawlessly with the IR blaster taped "tip to tip" to the IR receiver cable... I put the Gray ebay cable on that DTA (only ordered 1 cable to start), moved the taped together cables to my other tivo & DTA.. wouldn't work worth a crap (missing numbers). Same IR codes.
I finally yanked (carefully LOL) the IR receiver cable, and taped the IR blaster to the top of the DTA, it works about 75% of the time. I taped the 2nd blaster to the bottom of the DTA, it stopped working all together, removed the 2nd and it works again... again about 75% of the time.

I think the Thomson Quality Control is suspect...

on 2nd thought, I should have just bought 2 Gray's cables and not 1

edit
and I'm using 10104-C, might give -B a try
