Update: PatMedia CableCard Situation

I spoke to the person at Patriot Media today for a good 10 minutes this morning. She explained the shortage, and said she is hoping they get them in soon. She said with the holidays they have a list of about 100 people who need cards now. She was very nice and went on about how frustrating it is and how she understands. She explained I could have the regular HD Converter Box for now from them.

What amazed me most is after talking, she told me I should check out Tivocommunity.com. I didn't tell her I was already on, but it was really nice to talk to someone who really seemed to understand and tried to help.

Much better then last time when I called and the person was very nasty and wouldn't talk to me at all. I wish I got her name, I like it when you at least get a good customer service person, and shew as one of the best.

Gahhhh! What's the story with this? A month wait??

I just got my series 3 from TC Store. I called Patriot yesterday and requested two cablecards. (They call them "Smart Cards"). The polite lady said Jonie would call me back on Monday, and then mentioned that there was a waiting list. How long? My S3 is activated with Tivo, I'm wanting to go with HD. I have the mediocre Motorola box now and I want badly to get rid of it. Now you people are telling me I'm in for a long wait. Gahhhhh!

Well, I got my cards and I just joined the list. However, there is a little trick. Read this thread for more information!

OK, read your experiences. So it's squeaky wheel time? What's the real story, do they have a shortage of cards or not? You got yours by complaining, but does that mean you bumped someone else in the waiting list?

That would be the way it appears. How else would I get mine before others who were on the list before me?

Update:

Called Patmedia several times. No call back to schedule my cablecards. One of the phone reps let slip that Jonie starts work at 7 am. Today I called again, this time at 07:15 and Jonie answered. Yay (??)

Jonie was able to tell me more than the regular people could/would. They are "out of" cablecards. They would maybe be getting them in next week. My name is on the list to get cablecards. They're backordered.

Where on the list am I? Oh, ummm, # 120. (Uh-oh.) How many cablecards will you be getting? About 200. (I sure hope so.) She wouldn't schedule appointments until the cards come in.

Waiting, waiting. . . .
