gold star in TIVO central

How do I get rid of the line preceded by a gold star in TIVO central? One time it was some diamond sweepstakes, now it is "Man goes nuts in office". I am a newbie so I am probably missing some setting or other

Thanks

Bea

you can not "get rid" of these. Learn to enjoy them.

lol. you can get rid of them by not letting the tivo record them at about 2am in the early morning hours!

That only prevents it from recording the videos. It can still show gold star items without the videos.

I could send you a bottle of whiteout with food coloring added to match the color of the Tivo Central screen. However, that would leave you with a line of that color on all of the other screens, and it might even remain while watching pre-recorded and live tv.

I've read that if you don't select the item on the bottom of the Tivo Central screen, you won't be forced to watch the accompanying videos, etc. Maybe that would be simpler.

Let me know what you decide, so I can let my in-laws know if they can have this bottle of colored whiteout or not. For now, I'm saving it for you.

However, if you like Tivo, watch one of those Showcases every once in a while - Tivo gets money for those ads.

Thanks. I'll think about your offer

if you do not record the teleworld shows then the yellow stars fro them will not appear. of course some you might find interesting and the rest youcan just ignore. The new poster hit on 2 less interesting ones to start

This is kind of a sore subject at the moment with some members of the forum so ignore the sarcasm. As far as the Yellow Star, pretty much all you can do is ignore them if you can. I'm just about sick of the "We are Marshall" one but what can you do. But wait it gets better. At the very end of some shows when the delete or move on menu appears you'll get another chance to be taken directly to the advertising section of your Tivo. Some feel that it is ok to come here and complain about the different aspects of Tivo that we do not like and there are others who like to take the extreme view that you should cancel your service if you feel strongly enough to come here and complain. I much prefer to call it voicing my opinion as oposed to complaining.

Some people have stated that it bothers them so much that they would prefer to die than put up with the forced advertisements. And other have said that "They had better go ahead and die, thus reducing the surplus population". I say bahhh humm bugg to the kool-aid drinkers...

Well, there are non yellow star items that can appear in TiVo Central even when the associated video doesn't record. It just gives you the option to get more information (or something similar) but you can't actually view the video. I have had these many times when Teleworld didn't record.
